This is the first book I have read by Charles G. West. I enjoyed it very much. Robert Allred was born in St. Louis. He was sold at an early age to a mule skinner, who treated him better than his parents had. As they traveled west he escaped from an Indian attack on the place they were staying. He was later taken in by the Arapahos. They raised him as one of their on. He was named Little Wolf. This is his story, as a young boy, as he grows up and becomes a fierce warror. His life is saved one time by Squint Peterson, a mountain man, trapper and scout. They become good friends. Little Wolf may be white in his blood but is Indian in his mind. He is with Sitting Bull at Little Big Horn. This is the first book of three about Little Wolf. I will look forward to reading the next two. Would recommend it to anyone who likes to read about the early west.
