Windows to the Soul by J M Barlog

College is a time of unbridled discovery ... but some things were never meant to be disturbed.

In late August of 1995, junior Ali Goodfellow returned to quaint Ranhurst college in rural Ohio. A day later she vanished without a trace. Her friends and the authorities concluded Ali just took to the wind. Maybe she couldn't handle the relentless pressure of college life. Lucky for her, roommate Trish Van Worten refused to accept their unfounded theory.

What you're about to read is Trish's horrifying odyssey into the seamy, dark world that exists beneath the surface of every college campus. Someone's using terror to keep Trish from uncovering the evil truth behind Ali's disappearance. Trish's struggle to save her friend will take her to the very gates of hell, where she faces demons and the devil itself to rescue Ali.

Become a witness to this hellish unending nightmare and hope you'll never have to face something this frightening alone.

This is an amazing read. You can't beat the price - which is what first attracted me to this author. After reading 3 of their books - I am hooked. The writing has an addictive flare that makes you creep into the story and want to stay....even if it does scare you! This one deeply unsettled me as I kept identifying with characters around the college scene and then having my hometown college mentioned in the story, kept me awake until morning hours worried that perhaps it was a true story and WHAT was SO good! Thanks for the read - I needed a good book and hadn't read one this good since the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo series.

This is the story of Trish and Ali, college roommates. Ali arrives a couple days early, unpacks her belongings and then she disappears. Trish arrives and sees Ali has already unpacked, but has yet to see Ali. Since they were roomies the previous year they’ve become good friends, so she knows Ali pretty well. Trish insists something has happened to Ali, but everyone she tells basically blow her off her concerns, but she is determined to find out what happened to her roomie. I saw someone had recommended this book on the B & N facebook page, so I decided to read it and let me say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's fast paced and sparked my interest from beginning to end. It kept me trying to figure who was guilty and who wasn’t. I formed a lot of suspects in my mind. Many people I suspected as being involved wasn’t and people who I didn’t suspect as being involved were. Read it. It’s a great book. Well written with a lot of twist and turns. Definitely worth the $3.
