A Beautifully Told Lyrical Romance Saffron marches to the gates of the demon/archangel colony in order to find her sister, Thyme. Her sister disappeared with poachers while hunting archangels, and Saffron fears she’s dead even though she was only there to take pictures. You see, Saffron’s parents are the famous poacher couple who has several sets of wings on display in their house. Little does she know how much hatred towards her family resides within those gates. So much hatred it comes between her and the archangel she grows to love. This tale is beautifully told in lush, lyrical prose that melted off my tongue. I loved the relationship between Saffron and the archangel Kestral. They had such cute chemistry right from the start, and their little flirtatious jokes made me smile. I love how each archangel has their own unique powers- that really put a spin on the plot. Having the ability to hear someone’s voice when they are close to death is such an interesting power to have, and I can understand how it has shaped Kestral’s personality throughout the years, distancing him from his peers. The descriptions of the wings were beautiful, and I love how this story hits on a topic we all need more awareness of. Too many poachers live today killing elephants for their tusks, and other gentle creatures. Kudos to Ms. Gilman for bringing this issue front and center in this tale.

This book is a must read to anyone with a forgiving haert and who don't have a problem with one of the main characters of the book act like a smart a** at times. I hope whoever finds this review helpful enjoys this book as much as I did! One thing I do regret though is that I wish it was longer! Even though it was short the book itself is well wrote and interesting in its intirty. It may have been somewhat around 90 pages but all in all it was certainlly a great read that I am sure others will enjoy as well.

This is a prequel to Out in Blue. Of course with any novella I would rather have a longer story and more, but with the size it was a great short story with only a couple characters that are in Out in Blue. This is a great little love story of how Kestrel and Saffron get together. Kestrel is a fun character, with a little attitude but hard not to like. He's one of the few remaining archangels in the world. They are not widely liked, and are hunted for their luxurious wings. Most archangels live in demon communities where they have formed an alliance with the demons who now protect them from human poachers. Saffron is a photographer, the daughter of a famous archangel wing collector who hires poachers for new sets of wings. She is against his hobby. She goes to Eden (one of the demon communities) to find her missing sister who went with poachers to try and get good shots of the archangels for an upcoming project to promote archangels. Saffron figured she was captured with the poachers by the demons, so she went to beg for her release. Many archangels have a unique extra gift, Kestrel's gift is that he can hear a person's voice as if they were standing right next to him if they are within 3 miles, the only time he can hear their voice is if they are within a week from their own death. This is how Kestrel knew Saffron was at Eden, he was curious to find out how she would die, but he ended up caring for her and wanted her to stay with him while they looked for her sister so he could find a way to maybe save her. This was a great read and a good intro to the Out in Blue series.

Another great story from Sarah! I adore her angels so much and was so excited when I heard about this story! It's just as great as Out in Blue, but has a story that is different and equally as good! Sarah's writing flows wonderfully and I always enjoy reading everything she writes! :)

I loved this story.  It is so completely different from anything else I have read.  Yes, there is a love story and you can tell from chapter one that they are probably meant to be (not that I am saying they will be together because that would be spoilerish ;)).  What is so unique and amazingly wonderful is this world that Sarah created.  The archangels are protected by demons, but not in a fiery pits of hell way.  The Collector's are humans and bigots, but maybe, possibly not evil.  Add to this fascinating new world for me to discover two very easy to relate to characters who have this sweet and honest romance despite their backgrounds and I was hooked.  I am going to explore Sarah's website now to see if I can find some more books by her.  I hope this is a series.  I want to get lost in this world again soon!

Wings of Redemption is a novella from the upcoming Return to Sanctuary series from author Sarah Gilman.  Set in a demon colony just outside Quebec, Wings takes the theme of "lovers from different worlds" to another level!  Beyond the fact that Saffron is human and Kes is an archangel, Saffron's associations make her highly unlikely to be accepted by any in Eden.  To say that these two overcame obstacles to be together is a supreme understatement!  Despite the paranormal aspects of this book, it is, at it's heart, a love story.  With seemingly impossible circumstances, the story of Saffron and Kes is sweetly beautiful without ever being too sugary sweet.  Kes blows hot and cold with Saffron, and even he doesn't know why.  She is of the enemy and he should despise her, but he is drawn to her.  Saffron, too, is drawn to Kes, even in the midst of her fear of being in Eden and knowing her family's history with the demons and archangels. I was captivated by the book from the beginning.  I loved the premise of it, demons and archangels united for their very survival, their relationship with humans tenuous at best.  The seemingly insurmountable obstacles between Saffron and the colony made for a fabulous story.  The characters completely made the story, the lesser characters with as much impact as the main characters.  Virgil scared the heck out of me sometimes, a bit of a mystery demon.  Carny, another archangel, made me laugh.  Her easy acceptance of Saffron was heartwarming!  This is a short read, but one I highly recommend.  The first full-length book, Out In Blue, is out now with the second, Deep in Crimson, due in May of 2013.
