On a suicide mission to destroy the Dragon's Blood Elixir, Delaney encounters his firestorm when he meets Ginger Sinclair. (A firestorm only happens when a Pyr - a dragon shapeshifter - meets his destined mate, the only woman he can have a child with.) In order to fulfill his duty to his people, he detours from his main task and tries to get Ginger pregnant - and when Ginger finds out his intent, sparks really do fly. A lot of secrets are revealed in this book that I don't want to spoil for anyone. If you haven't read anything in this series yet, you'll really get more out of this if you go back and start with the first book. (Which isn't great, and the second is seriously geographically challenged, but these have gotten better over time.)Overall, the characters are enjoyable and comprehensible (except for Ginger on pp. 45-65 - a lazy attempt to move the plot along that made her seem like a moron. Fortunately, she redeemed herself later in the novel.) The romantic relationship between Ginger and Delaney grew over time, and it was nice to have characters from the previous books integrated so solidly in the story. All in all, it was an enjoyable "popcorn" read.

Well mouth's went dry eleven times! But I read the excerpt for the next book and there is already a dry mouth so I know the next one will be just as good!I liked the story line in this one, but it almost seemed the writing was a little rushed. I caught quite a few discrepencies like for example: Niall was holding Ginger in his claw while fighting slayers, but tossed her to Eric. Eric caught her, and was holding her but she said something to Niall, when it should have been Eric, because after answering her, Eric set her down! So little things like that annoyed me,because it his her fourth book in the series and I feel like she should pay more attention to her writing. All in all, I really did like the story line and it was a good book!

Delaney believes himself to be an outcast from his fellow Pyr after having been forcibly exposed to the evil Dragon’s Blood Elixir by the despicable and power hungry Magnus. Afraid of his own impulses, he decides to take it upon himself to destroy the elixir. The unfortunate timing of his firestorm with the fierce Ginger and the loyalty of his fellow Pyr interferes with his plans. As frequently happens with books by Deborah Cooke, the action grabs you from the first page, but the character development is what keeps you interested and invested in the outcome. Another excellent and engrossing addition to the Dragonfire Novels. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

Delaney wants to prove himself to the rest of the Pyr, so he goes after the source of the Dragon's Blood Elixir. Of course he goes by himself, with no backup. He is shocked to experience his firestorm with Ginger, whom he meets by chance one wintry day in Ohio. He didn't expect to get this chance since he feels his blood is still contaminated by the Elixir. So Delaney figures why not satisfy the firestorm and leave an heir before he goes off on his suicide mission. Well, Ginger isn't sure what's going on other than the fact that Delaney is the most amazing man she's ever met, but she's not about to let him just leave her after a one night stand. She may be a dairy farmer, but she's one tough country gal who is determined to find out what is going on and to help Delaney survive this mission. Delaney is one of the most broken Pyr characters, and the author does a great job of showing his redemption through the power of the firestorm and the love he shares with Ginger. It is also touching to see the support of the other Pry as they come to his aid. With friends like these, you know the Slayers are in for a tough battle.

This was a great, well-written book. Delaney has vowed to destroy the dragon's Blood Elixir, no matter what it costs him. He is shocked to experience his firestorm when he meets Ginger. As Ginger gets to know Delaney she sees that he is a strong man who is fighting for good. This is book 4 in the Dragonfire novels series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author.

Good story, if at times wordy. There were parts that seemed long winded in their explanations, but the conflict and action made for its wordyness. I was happy to see Dalaney get his happy ending and his redemtion. Ginger was the perfect partner for him.
