I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. In searching for older books by Erica Ridley I came across Wish Upon A Duke. Published in November of 2018, it's book 3 of the 12 Dukes Of Christmas series. With only a passing nod to previous characters, Wish Upon A Duke stands by itself. Christopher Pringle (don't you love the name?), is an dedicated adventurer. He likes rules, facts and things that are dependable, will stay the same. He's running from a bad childhood, though he thinks that's long over with. He's lonely and wants someone to be with him, a love match. His idea of a mate is himself in a skirt. Gloria Godwin has been on her own for the past 6 years and has become set in her ways. Life has delt her a harsh hand and it's become twisted in her mind that if she stays still, changes nothing, that all will be fine. Both characters have been warped, in different ways, into thinking that a straight line and path will protect them. Christopher begins a kind of immersion therapy, working slowly to address Gloria's fears. In the process he comes to face his own. They grow and change together, it's sweet to see two such flawed people become whole again and find love. #EricaRidley #NetGalley #12DukesOfChristmas #WishUponADuke

I did not like this book as much as the previous ones in the series. I found it hard to accept a heroine, Gloria, who loves to break all the rules but is afraid to go anywhere outside her town and a hero, Christopher, who loves adventure but never does anything against the rules. This did not work for me.

Sweetly thrilling, heartwarming and fun historical holiday romance filled with lots of witty banter, exciting twists and disarming passion..... this is a very fun and entertaining read that had me hooked from the first chapter... Loving this engaging and heart pounding sexy group of Dukes..... awesomeness.

I'm glad Gloria got her HEA! She was the imperfect partner for the perfect hero! Christopher is a "by the book" hero who obey's all the rules. Gloria is one to let her imagination run wild in all things! Together, they compliment each other. Loved the epilogue and see how far they've come! Thank you for the Advanced Readers Copy! Awesome read!

Wish Upon a Duke book 3 by Erica Ridley in the Series 12 Dukes of Christmas. Two serious broken hearted people with their lives headed in two completely different directions when love stopped them both in their tracks. They helped heal each other. Enjoyed the banter, humor. Very good short story.

Love, love, love it! Erica Ridley has done it again with the story of charming Christopher Pringle, though as a younger brother somewhat overlooked adventurer, and Gloria Godwin, a dark haired beauty, with to much imagination for his taste. As a favour to her friend, Gloria has agreed to become Christopher's matchmaker, and attempt to find him his perfect match in a wife. Even though after meeting him she decides he is most definitely not for her, the more time she spends with him the harder she is finding it to imagine him with another. Christopher wants a wife who likes order, and structure, but at the same time travel and adventure. So why is he being drawn to Gloria? The woman who spouts utter nonsense as fact, doesn't believe in following rules, and has no plans to ever leave her little village, let alone set foot on a boat and head off for an adventure. The story between Christopher and Gloria is a great read, that has love, loss, determination, hope, and more. All the wonderful things you need to have an engaging story. Cant wait to see what Erica will bring us next!

Without question Ridley is one of my “go-to” authors. If she comes out with a book, I’m on it like a duck on a June bug. “Wish Upon a Duke” is a delightful Christmas novella. Mr. Christopher Pringle is seeking a wife and not just any wife but a love match. Miss Gloria Godwin is tasked to be his matchmaker - helping him find the perfect woman in the little town of Cressmouth “Christmas”, England. What she doesn’t count on is falling for Mr Pringle herself. “Dark brown hair. Snowy white neckcloth. Black superfine coat cut to accentuate broad shoulders. Gorgeous buckskins that clung to the muscles of his legs. Gleaming Hessians. Adonis, come to life?” But what if their orbits collide and instead of fitting perfectly together? I read this in one afternoon. I couldn’t put it down. I was gifted a copy of this book.

Christopher Pringle came to Cressmouth, the Christmas town, to find a wife. He wants a wife who shares his interests and who will travel with him on his adventures around the world. Gloria Godwin loves astronomy, fixing mechanical objects, and exploring the world through her books. From the moment they meet, she drives him crazy. She doesn’t follow directions in the proper order and doesn’t call the stars and constellations by the proper names. As Chris and Gloria spend time together (she is supposed to be his matchmaker), they discover they enjoy being together. After all, they like astronomy, plum pudding, and learning about other places. They might just make a good match - might. Remember that Chris wants his wife to travel abroad with him. That could be a problem. In Wish Upon a Duke, we find ourselves in the merry winter wonderland of Cressmouth. The characters are witty and cheerful. Chris and Gloria fit together perfectly. They just don’t know it. They both have bad memories from the past. Perhaps they can help each other work through them. They get some encouragement from Nick and Penelope, and Gloria’s maid Madge nudges them along the way. Don’t miss this one. It’s a jolly good addition to the series. Oh… and how do you suppose you wish upon a Duke, and where will you find three French hens? Look to the stars for the answer.

I received a free, advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my unbiased and voluntary review This is another humorous, historical romance with delightful characters and a skillfully narrated, provocative plot. Back to Marlowe Castle, Christmas (Cressmouth) England. This book happens concurrent with the previous book. Mr. Christopher Pringle, has come to Cressmouth to find a forever bride, who will travel the world with him. His brother Nicholas had come along and not that he was looking, but found his own bride first. His fiancee, Penelope, recommends her friend, Miss Gloria Godwin, as a matchmaker, something she has never done before. Perhaps, Penelope, has more insight into her friends character and heart? While none of the eligible women that Gloria introduces to Christopher set his heart on fire, they find they are drawn to each other, with similar interests. However, after loosing both her fiancee and father to the ocean, Gloria is terrified of water and traveling, while traveling is his passion. Is there anyway to reconcile their differences? One con, the same one as in the last book. While Nicholas is next in line to the Duke of Silkridge, and Christopher after him, neither is very likely to ever be one. So of the first 3 books, only one is really a duke.

A magical story taking place in a village that celebrates Christmas all year and two completely opposite people falling in love. But she is happy living where she is and is happy imagining traveling and he can't seem to stay in one place very long.

Delightful opposites-attract romance! At first glance, world-traveler Christopher seems to be exactly the wrong kind of man for Gloria, who is content to never leave her small, picturesque town. When she's called upon to act as matchmaker for him, Gloria finds no shortage of women who meet his stated list of requirements. Christopher thinks he knows what he wants in a bride, so he's beyond confused that his heart keeps directing him towards the one woman who meets none of his criteria. I loved this delicious little love story right from the start. Christopher and Gloria each think they know what they want, but their hearts reveal what they really need. Their conflict was believable and seemingly insurmountable, making their journey to their HEA especially poignant and heartfelt. I'm looking forward to reading more in this wonderful series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved Christopher and Gloria's story!! Having met both characters earlier in the series, I was excited to see what Ridley had in store for them! Talk about opposites attracting!! Christopher is a by the book guy and someone who doesn't deviate from the path. Gloria is someone that likes to do her own thing. When these two meet, they are soon clashing over the basic things that come up. But that soon turns into an attraction for both. Can these two opposites make it work? I really enjoyed these two. The bantering between them had me laughing out loud. I think each of the books in the series has gotten better and better and I can't wait to see what Ridley comes up with next!

Marlowe Castle Cressmouth England Miss Gloria Godwin leads groups of people on “sky-walk” tours where they learn the names of stars and constellations. This is a popular tour with people who visit the area. Named for Christmas, it is always Christmas here. Mr. Christopher Pringle, is part of a house party being held at the Castle. He is second in line to a dukedom behind his brother, Nicholas, who has always been a rake and is now engaged to be married. With Nicholas’s wedding announcement, now the ladies have all turned their eyes to Christopher and he is being besieged by eligible young ladies. Christopher, who loves to travel, is looking for a wife. He hopes to find one in just a few weeks so he can marry and set sail on a voyage. Christopher loves astronomy and when he hears Gloria on her tour calling the different constellations by pet names rather than their proper names, he is outraged. After a discussion with his brother about finding a wife right away, Nicholas and his fiancé suggest he consult a matchmaker to help him find a bride. When he discovers she is none other than Gloria herself, he is quite put out. However, he realizes he must stick with her to get the job done. Each time Gloria introduces Christopher to a different woman and sees how well they get along, she thinks he has found the woman he wants to marry. Nope. He has not. But as they spend time together, they share their passion for astronomy and how they look at the stars. Christopher prefers facts and the proper scientific names for them. Gloria, on the other hand, enjoys using her imagination of what they look like to her and gives them pet names. Although they disagree on the names, they do share a love of the stars themselves. Could this love lead to a love between them? They say that anything can happen in Cressmouth if you just wish for it. A clever, if somewhat silly, little tale. I’m sure that Christmas lovers will enjoy this sweet little story. Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This may simply be proving that I’m nothing more than a squishy mass of gooey marshmallow, but Gloria’s story reduced me to tears – multiple times. Her justly earned fears are utterly heartbreaking. And Christopher’s wanderlust is almost as devastating. Especially when the pair are squared off in opposition to one another. I loved watching these two very different yet so similar people fall in love with each other. It hurt my heart to witness how much both Gloria and Christopher were willing to sacrifice for the other’s happiness. I’ve only just finished this book and I want more Christmas already. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author from NetGalley.

Christopher Pringle is ready to marry but having difficulty finding a suitable bride – one that won’t leave him and will enjoy traveling. In spite of the women he is introduced to by Gloria Godwin…women that might be more suitable to his wants and desires…he falls for her instead. Trying to convince her to be his bride is not easy because the two are such opposites in what they want in life…at least it seems so for most of the book. This was a fun little love story that is novella length and was a fun way to spend the afternoon. Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

The stars align with this fun and humorous Christmas novella! Do opposites attract? Well yes they do! Is it an easy journey to love? Well it can be challenging, but with Christoper, who is seeking a wife, thinks he will find the "perfect" woman for him and fall in love. With the help of Miss Gloria Godwin, matchmaker, there seems to be no doubt she will find that lady. But as the two spend time together, what could possibly happen? Christopher loves to travel and be orderly while Gloria is the exact opposite! She tends to break the rules and wants to stay close to home. But wait, isn't she the matchmaker for him, and not the intended? A regency romp that will delight you as the humor comes off the pages and these two opposites pull together!! Lori Dykes

Christopher Pringle has been in Cressmouth or Christmas with his brother, Nick. His brothe found a wife, now he wants someone for his own. Miss Gloria Godwin has agreed to help him find a wife. She has introduced him to several, but Gloria's charm and beauty always comes back to him. She names the constellations wrong, she doesn't follow recipes. He just can't deal with her, until he realizes he can't deal without her. He needs her and wants her to go on adventures with him. She is afraid to leave her home even though she loves him with all her heart. Will she overcome her fears and will he wait? I loved Christopher from the first and am so happy he wants love. Sweet and naughty scenes in this book. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Whimsical. This doesn’t feel like a Regency novel but more like a contemporary small town romance which just happens to be set in the past. It has an almost fairy tale quality and I found it delightful. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Three and a half stars. Third novella in a series set in the English village of Cressmouth (Christmas). Miss Gloria Godwin is a remarkable young woman, astronomer and mechanical engineer, she was traumatised by first her father's death at sea and then her fiance travelling to India and never returning. As a result, she has a pathological fear of water and travel. Despite this fear she loves to read about travel. The Right Honourable Mr Christopher Pringle, previously the quiet overlooked Pringle brother, is getting a taste of what it feels like to be the most eligible bachelor in the village, he is swamped by eager single women desperate for his hand in marriage. Christopher loves to travel, he makes a point to never stay more than one month in one place, but he would like to share that life with someone so he engages a matchmaker to find him a wife. Christopher's soon-to-be sister in law recommends Gloria as a matchmaker, and she does indeed find women who exactly meet Christopher's requirements, the only trouble is the infuriating matchmaker appears more and more attractive every day. It's a pity that their interests are so different. This was a charming Christmas novella, Gloria takes delight in teasing Christopher and indulging her imagination, Christopher helps her overcome her fears. I received a free copy of this book from the author via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Attention grabbing historical romance. Chris and Gloria both want a love match. Both are afraid of not finding it. One is an explorer while the other is not. One follows rules, the other uses imagination; causing both to withdraw from each. other due to their differences. Enjoyed the chemistry between the leads; also liked the closeness of the brothers, Gloria & Maude and all knowing Virginia! (Book 3 in series.) Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.
