About the Author

William Shakespeare is the world's greatest ever playwright. Born in 1564, he split his time between Stratford-upon-Avon and London, where he worked as a playwright, poet and actor. In 1582 he married Anne Hathaway. Shakespeare died in 1616 at the age of fifty-two, leaving three children—Susanna, Hamnet and Judith. The rest is silence.

It was a great book when I used to read it over and over again in 4th grade, and I still love it! It got me into Shakespeare and I love Romeo and Juliet. I love the 1996 movie because of this book and because of the Wishbone eppie, 'Rosie, O Rosie O!' So I'm a Shakespeare/R+J lover and have been since an early age!!

I just want to say that this was a wonderful book! I read it when I was in 4th or 5th grade and it really was such a wonderful book. It was presented in such a great way for kids to read, understand, and not be horribly confused! I fell in love with the play at such an early age and would definately recommend it as a book for young adults looking to read Shakespeare!
