When times get rough, some people drink, some gamble, some shop. Poets write poems.
Wishes sometimes have consequences is Kevin J. O'Conner's poetic journey through the year 2018. It was a year marked by twists and turns—some anticipated, some not. Kevin channeled the difficulties of the year—most notably the deaths of his father and his cat Trixie—into his poetry.
At the same time, Kevin also began going to bookstores and libraries to write. The result of this change in environment is his series of Bookstore Poems. Included as a separate section of the book, these poems travel a similar path through the year 2018, but from subtly different angles. Some of them even take place in bookstores.
Presented in chronological order, the poems in Wishes sometimes have consequences convey the messiness of life through humor, observation, and reflection. Illustrated by the author.
