I was astonished at how Laurie explained about the history of women and religion. For the first time someone, brave and bold, has said what I have somehow felt inside all along-putting it into words for all to see. She has helped me see my true place, my real quest, and my value as a woman. I never felt value like this before. She has shown me that the gift of my witch heritage was hidden from me all my life, disallowed in my Christian belief system. I tried in vein to find the power of God in the church, to find value and equality as a woman, and to have the freedom to express my gifts in love to all. She has helped me see that my true answer is not in Christianity alone but that, as stange as it may sound to most people, it is its answer to all those questions I had inside for all the years of my life. Witchcraft is indeed where the power and the peace is. I probably will ruffel a few feathers with my words, but know that I am on a journey and have not arrived, I will continue to learn more and I am sure I will see my boundries and understandings clearer. This book is so excellent for the beginner and first time seeker into the idea of being a witch. I am excited about her next book I will read-the Power of the Witch.
Laurie Cabot has given us a book filled with inspiration, enlightenment and instruction. Her retelling of Celtic tales woven through her text on rediscovering our feminine roots adds a sense of history and collective myth to our modern understanding. Her spirit of discovery, generosity and boldness will shake you awake, and clear the fog... If you are on the verge of 'Waking the Witch' within, this a perfect book to start with. If you are well on your path to the Goddess, 'The Witch in Every Woman' will inspire your footsteps... I recommend this book to all women, Witch or not...as a wonderful tool for rediscovering the lost parts of themselves.
I read this book when it first came out almost ten years ago. I was mostly curious about Wiccans/Pegans, but once I started reading it I couldn't put the book down. It's not just about Wiccans/Pegans. It's about those who are emotionally and mentally lost within themselves. It's for those who seek a backbone and courage. It's for those who are trying to find their internal happiness. It left me feeling discovered and empowered. After I read it, I recommended it to a friend of mine who was going through some tough personal times. She didn't read the book right away, but six months later she told me it was the best therapy she ever had. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone male or female. I wish Laurie would write a sequel to this book. I loved it! Thank you, Laurie.
Laurie Cabot has a theme in all her books, "Women are good and men are bad". Truly, her hatred for the masculine (unless you're gay) is so upfront and on the surface. Truly...if you hate men, save your money and watch Oprah Winfrey instead.
This book proved to be very sacraligious. I was astonished and apalled by the primitive things they instructed people to do int this book! A MUST NOT READ!
