If laid-back high school senior Glen Sauten thought being newcomer Charlie Thornton's friend was difficult, now he discovers what it's like to be Charlie’s enemy. After a serious accident keeps Glen's best friend from running interference between them, Glen has to choose between standing up to Charlie on his own or being thought a coward.
“Lindquist draws the characters with skill and warm insight…. Strong moral values and common-sense answers suggested to address everyday problems youths face today.” —Christian Library Journal
“I had to ask a 16-year-old whether N. J. Lindquist’s Circle of Friends series of novels lived up to the promoter’s promise that ‘real issues and realistic teens’ make for a compelling read. And without any prompting, ‘realistic’ was the word my young informant provided. ‘It clarified things that I was doing wrong—and how to fix it.'” —Christian Week, reviewed by editor, Doug Koop
“These books are a great tool for sharing your faith and would be a great addition to your home library or your church library.” —Debbie Doane, The Old Schoolhouse Magazine
“If you got the first book in this Circle of Friends series, you are going to want to get this one, too.... Life is not simple for teenagers. More complications, more relationship interaction.” —Crystal E. Miller

With Friends Like These is the second book in The Circle of Friends series and once again author N.J. Lindquist has written another wonderful Christian fiction book for young adults. She allows us to follow Glen and his friends as they continue to experience their last year of high school. Newcomer Charlie and Glen's best friend Luke are still rivals but now Charlie considers Glen also a rival because Nicole chose Glen over him. Glen is glad to have Nicole as his girlfriend but dating isn't as easy as he thought. In fact, growing up isn't what he thought it would be. Further complications occur when Luke is involved in a serious accident and Charlie is the one who saves him because both Glen and Nicole experience doubts and questions about their own relationship and their feelings about Charlie. This book once again amazed me with the author' s ability to write from a young man's point of view and I so appreciate the faith based story that she wrote. Teenagers dealing with today's temptations need to rely on God for help and guidance and she shows these characters turning to Bible scripture and prayer as they face their struggles. We are allowed to witness their Christian growth. Author N.J. Lindquist has been able to accurately capture the emotions, anxieties and drama that teenagers often encounter in their march to adulthood. I recommend With Friends Like These for both teens and their parents and I look forward to learning more about this circle of friends. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Book Club Network. My honest thoughts have been shared in this review.
“With Friends Like These” by N. J. Lindquist was an interesting read. This is a young adult novel and centers around teenagers. The story was interesting and very engaging. This is told from one of the teenagers, Glen’s, point of view. The author did a great job of portraying the many obstacles and problems facing teenagers today. I would definitely recommend this to novel to teenagers through adults. "I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and here is my honest review."
This is the second book in the series. It continues Glen's life as a senior in high school and his new life as a Christian. I really enjoyed the book. It is written in the first person from Glen's point of view. The characters are well developed. You learn a bit more about the featured characters in this book that were introduced in the first book. The editing was good, but I did notice about a dozen mistakes, mostly wrong words. This book would be great for teens and older. It is not too complicated and keeps moving nicely
