This has great potential. 3.5 stars. This starts with Giselle in her senior year of high school. She is devastated by her boyfriend cheating on her. Her best friend Alex helps her with the ultimate revenge. However, Alex ends up not helping her, but forcing her into a horrible situation. It takes no time at all for this story going from normal high school antics into craziness full of vampires. There are many characters in this story but not enough development for all of them to really make it all mesh well. This is absolutely a fast paced story that is action packed, but it jumps around a lot. It also has it's moments that are more racy than I would have anticipated for a YA book. Giselle is constantly being pulled into different directions and everyone knows what's best for Giselle (eye roll). She is continually being forced into things and no one will explain why. This story has great potential to become something more. It is a good start to this series.  "Waking up is considered a simple daily task to most, but for me, lying so still and lifeless scares me." "It felt as though I was taking part in a game of Russian roulette, and I was getting closer to pulling the trigger with the gun pointed at my own head." "Some things happen for a reason. Others happen because of circumstance, but with me, it was a case of being god-d***ed unlucky." The storyline is there and I look forward to finding out more about Giselle and all the craziness that the darkness has put her in the middle of.

Within the Shadows by Julieanne Lynch *This book was provided to me by the publisher for an honest review. I am new to this author and starting out I had my doubts. Lately it seems like there is not a shortage of vampire novels, most paint the vampires as attractive and lovable creatures that teenage girls can easily fall in love with. The beginning of the book I thought I knew what was going to happen. I was wrong. The book took unexpected twists and turns that you will just have to read to find out! Overall the book was good and fast paced, a quick and great read that will leave you wanting more, good thing it’s a series! *This book was done with sincerity by #MirasBooks

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review. This was a very fast-paced novel that never stays on one path! This is one wicked ride that has left me dizzy, but anxiously awaiting the rest of the story. I’m a thrill junkie; therefore, this novel was my cup of tea. The writing style is creative, and though the story line may not seem uncommon, the events that take place are very irregular. Our heroine deviates from the predicted path often, and there was not a moment in which I could tell whom she could trust. While some of the actions are typical of an erratic teenage girl, there are a few instances in which I felt she could’ve used a little more intellect. Otherwise, this was a most thrilling and unpredictable novel! This is not a stand-alone and I recommend it for ages sixteen and up.

Giselle Bergman used to have everything she wanted in her life, a loving boyfriend and the perfect best friend. But when the man she loves betrays her, her world gets turned upside down. She finds out a deep dark secret about her best friend Alex, and he started to terrify her. She is brought into a new world when she is transformed into a new breed of vampire, and forced into a new life with someone she doesn’t love. It’s hard for Giselle to trust anyone because everyone has hidden motives towards her.  My thoughts- I loved this story, it kept me hanging on until the very end and when it ended I knew I needed more. It’s really hard for me to find a book that I love and this one has it all for me. It has action, love, betrayal, heartache, but Giselle grows into a smart woman. There were times where I wanted to smack her upside the head, but that means the author did her job right. I can’t wait to read the second and third book in this series. I will warn you to have plenty of time to read because you won’t want to stop. Julieanne Lynch thank you for creating this amazing world and I can’t wait to see what is next for Giselle.

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review. This is book 1 of the Shadow World series by author J.A. Lynch. Giselle Bergman is your typical high school student with a boyfriend. Marc, and a best friend, Alex. Her world is turned upside down by lies, cheating and torment from her piers at school. The 2 people she thought she could trust and always have her back end up not being who she thought they were. I felt sorry for Giselle because she was trying to do the right thing and no matter how hard she tried someone or something always got in the way. A couple parts of this book I got mad at the character because of his actions and then I cried a couple times too. There are no bad parts to this book and even the over all flow feels right along with the interaction of all the characters. The length of this book is just right, not too short and not overly long for a book read. I must say that this book is by far the better of the vampire paranormal books I have read and I say kudos to J.A. Lynch for the start to a great series. If you love paranormal romance with suspense along with vampires then this is a must read for you.

Reviewer: Bex Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars Within the shadows, by Julieanne Lynch, is a fresh vampire read. We follow Giselle; a fairly 'normal' 18 year old. The book immediately grabbed my interest and starts off strong by introducing the characters effectively and setting a scene that's easy to visualise. And then we have twists galore. After several chapters, I had to pause. I seriously did not see that coming! This is a good thing as I was totally convinced by the author's writing, and foolishly, I thought I had it all figured out. Whilst the twists were successful, and on many occasions, I was truly impressed by the author's writing, the characters didn't always sit comfortably with me. Despite the strong start, there were elements of the plot that frustrated me a little. I completely 'felt' for Giselle, but there were times that I wasn't fully moved by the unfolding drama. There's a lovely level of action, humour, and twists galore in Julieanne Lynch's Within the Shadows, certainly enough to keep me entertained. A very enjoyable read. Disclosure: This ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.

J.A. Lynch Within The Shadows Shadow World Novel #1 This book is a great read, and has so much going in. Some people just have a hard life at times, and unfortunately for Giselle, she is one of them. She had everything, a loving boyfriend, a best friend she couldn’t do without but within a week it all turns around and leaves her thinking about just ending it all. It’s well written and every chapter brings something new, there is never a dull moment. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Giselle next. I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What a fantastic story, of heartbreak, betrayal, lust, darkness and finding out that people are not always what they seem.Giselle's life it turning in so many directions and is on a non stop roller coaster ride. She turns to the person she feels she can trust the most ONLY to find that her Night is shining armor is nothing more than a Dark Night. One she should run as far away from as she can,but that has become impossible. She will have to encounter many heartbreaking moments, uncontrollable Lust, Loss, and suffer much pain. She will find that she will have to make some hard choices, and many will be made for her. Will she be able to escape the evil Shadows that lurk around the corners. Will she have to give up what means the most to her or will she have to submit to the Darkness to save the ones she loves. I have enjoy this book from the beginning and look forward to the next book. Well done Julieanne Lynch, and I will definitely recommend this to others. Melissa Williams Brown

What an interesting introduction to the series. Lynch did an amazing job of setting up all of the background elements, including the theological and supernatural aspects, which will carry her series forward. She does so while creating a very compelling and captivating story for her audiences.  All of the descriptions in this novel give it a dark overtone. It suits the storyline perfectly. The descriptions are also very clear and memorable. I appreciate the fact that the author stays true to herself and her storyline throughout the novel. The consistency throughout adds greatly to the smooth flow of the action. Not only were the descriptions and story well developed, but they combined to produce a very interesting and intriguingly complex whole. The characters in this novel are quite unique. Each and every one offers something different to the storyline, without taking away from who they are as a person. I enjoyed how Lynch began to develop her characters in this novel while leaving us a great deal to discover in future novels. Even with this, you get to know all of the main characters very well and don’t have to guess or imagine what they would do in a certain situation. My sole issue with the characters was the fact that every once in a while their dialogue became a little stilted. They’d stop talking like real people, then all of a sudden would speak normally again. As a whole, this story was quite well written and very well thought out. It follows a logical progression from point A to point C (cliff-hanger) via point B, leaving you perfectly set up for the sequel.  Please note that I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
