Without a Trace (Nancy Drew Girl Detective Series #1) by Carolyn Keene

Hi, I'm Nancy Drew, and I've got a case to crack. Actually make that two cases. First a gorgeous Fabergé egg has been stolen. Who would have the heart to snatch such a precious family heirloom from someone new to town? Some housewarming that is!
And if this isn't enough to keep me busy, someone's running through gardens and stomping on all the zucchinis. Needless to say, it's a big mess — in more ways than one. Especially for Mr. Safer, who is suspected of squishing the squash. I'm pretty sure Mr. Safer's innocent. But who's the real vegetable vandal?

I have read the origional 50 or so Nancy Drew books. I was looking for a new book to read and decided that I would try the first book of the new Nancy Drew series. It still had the same characters as the old books but was way off on the old details. If you are just starting on Nancy Drew books and you are not planning on reading the old ones then I strongly receommend this book but, if you have read the old ones and are looking for a replacement then DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! You will be very dissapointed by the lack of accuracy of the old details. Hope this helps.

I bought this book with great hopes that the All New Girl Detective would be something special. I was greatly disappointed. As an avid reader of Nancy Drew for over 35 years and a collector, this new series does not due the series justice and has made a mockery of our Nancy Drew. No longer the brave and resourceful teen sleuth, she has been reduced to a mere wanna-be detective who no longer has wit and cool. Her friends Bess and George has been so rewritten as to make an old series reader wonder ¿who are these people?¿ And I know many fans who have been so disappointed by this new series they have turned away and looked to the old favorite classic Nancy Drew books for a reread. If the publishers wanted to jazz up and modernize Nancy for the 21st century, they did a very poor job. The Nancy Drew Files Series and The Nancy Drew on Campus Series each tried to change the original tried and true formula with little success (although I personally like the Files Series). It is a shame that this is what the wonderful Nancy Drew series has become. Don't worry true fans; I predict this new format won't be around for long as its popularity and poor sales will prove once and for all - don't mess with success. Bring back our Nancy!

Disappointed! I am a 15 teen year old girl and I've read all of the original Nancy drew book and I started reading them around 8, this new selection of books were very disappointing because I expected more. Many would agree with me that the originals were way better

This was a pretty good book. It a strange plot, but it was still exciting. I love Nancy Drew, and this one involves my favorite charecter: Ned Nickerson. I would recomend this to anyone who loves mysteries.

The originals are way better. These have no suspense or even slightly creepy parts. I definetly do not recommend these books to children who enjoy mysterious and suspenseful books.

This book is pretty good but like all Nacy Drew books its got a + and a -. The + is that you HAVE suspects. Since in the old ND books you KNEW who it was or you only had ONE suspect. The - is that Nancy's ATTITUDE is more spoiled than it was an I don't like that but other than that Nancy Rocks! (And So Does The Book) BTW: Great Plot!

I am 12 years old and love all the Nancy drews, but this new nancy seems a little bit too different from the old Nancy. These books are very short and I read this in a day, so I highly recommend this series to a younger age group.I liked the mystery a lot better that was in the third book rather than in this one. They have also changed the characters alot. Bess is smarter and does'nt only concentrate on boys and George is a bit sassier. It seems to me that Nancy is doing less work on the mysteries in this new series.Overall these books are pretty good but they could at least make them 200 pages

These books do not have nearly as good of a mystery as the origional ones! I have read almost every single one of the Nancy Drew Girl detective books and I have enjoyed them all, but the new authors need to think of better plots. Other than being a little bit boring I would definitely recommend these books to you.

I have read Nancy Drew for 50 years and still enjoy them. I have all the titles published, but I am not fond of this new Nancy. I have been used to the fast paced, rough and tumble adventures. (I admit she should have a serious head problem with all the times she was hit over the head). I have read the first 5 in this new series and it seems you are almost to page 100 before you are sure there is really a true mystery, most is speculation. I agree with another reviewer the the mysteries seem silly compared to the old series. In the older books, you knew what the mystery (or at least one of them) was right of the bat. I hope they get better as I would hate to stop collecting them for my Grandaughters.

It was okay but it really wasn't that great. Why would someone care about a egg that much is beyond me!

The publishers could not leave Nancy alone, especially when young readers are desperate for quality fiction, without magic spells and dragons. Nancy is a wholesome character who gets involved in solving the mystery of a stolen Faberge egg and a vandalized vegeatable garden. In this revised series, she is seen using cell phones and computers, and drives a sporty new car. I enjoyed Nancy Drew as a kid, and find myself still going back to check out her latest exploits.

I personaly love sespens books, espesialy being a younger person than older readers (like when the origanal series of Nancy Drew seires was puplished) I enjoy modern mysteries. So when I noticed the All New Nancy Drew Series I began reading them. 'Without a trace' was a intresting and enjoable book. This book influnced me to read the other books in the seires, though the other book were more intreaging than the first I would definitly recomened this book to slightly younger readers.

I've been collecting Nancy Drew books for many years. I almost have the full hardcover and files. It's great to have a new series to start with. This is one of the best Nancy Drew books I've ever read. One thousand cheers!!

This is a great book with chills and thrills. The interesting and unique characters combined with the cliff-hanging plot make for a must-read. The surprise ending is really surprising!!!! The new version is great and different, but one thing stays the same: if Nancy's hot on your trail, you better run.
