4.5 Stars! Evan James and Madison Grey had a perfect love story. They were an item since they were in high school and all throughout in college. His words had caught her, but it was his music that drove them apart. Maddy had already moved on, she already had a boyfriend, when all of a sudden, her ex boyfriend, the one who had crushed her heart came inside a café where they were and sang her song. Evan was the only one she ever loved, the only one who can make her inside turn into knots, and the man who has the power to shatter her heart. And he did, now here he is – wanting her back into his life with the subtle push from their friends. Evan made a mistake when he left her. He knew that and everyday he wished he didn’t do it. But he was high on his fame, and he thought she loved him enough to go with the flow, but missed appointments, forgotten phonecalls was enough to drive Maddie away from him. Still it took him by surprise when he asked her to go on tour with him and she said no. Three years later, on an open mic in one café – he spotted her sitting in the audience. And this time, he would make it sure she’ll never get away from him. This was their love story getting a second chance, and indeed – it was much sweeter, much hotter now that they are back together again. But, it all came crashing down one day when Maddy discovered something. Will she give Evan the chance to explain? Or will she let him go for good? I love Luke and Genna, especially this girl who is a really great friend and is not afraid to call on your BS. She’s a big help in putting some senses into Maddy and Evan to finally give their love a second chance. The song was divine, the characters were pretty much interesting starting from Evan down to Genna, who’s mouth gave me quite a laugh, the pacing of the story was just great and never a drag – thank goodness. Without You is a story about love and second chances. It’s a short sweet story that can melt your hearts and make you want to fall in love, and perhaps give old love a chance. "Oh, Madison Grey. My life has been so dark without you. You light up my soul like no one else has. No song, no melody is the same without you. Give me the chance to be alive again." ¿Complimentary Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.¿
Without You by Julie Prestsater is a standalone novel, a romance, and one of the most upbeat and uplifting books I've read in a long while. Emotionally deep without going to the dark side, I thoroughly LOVED this book and can't wait to read more from this author. Evan and Madison were high school sweethearts. Evan was the musical genius and started to hit the big time after high school. When the opportunity to tour came about he couldn't say no and thought that Madison would come along for the ride. Madison had no desire to leave town and travel as Evan's sidekick while he chased his dreams. Fate has a hand in reuniting these two when, after three years apart, Evan heads back to his home town and stops at an open-mic night. He finally is ready to perform again and after his performance, he sees Madison rush out of the place looking distraught, neither one had any idea they would see the other. And so the story begins... The story unfolds as we see these two soul mates begin the process of reuniting and moving past the mistakes they made and the hurt they caused.
This book was a great ending. I cried when the first book ended and when this book started. When they ran into each other it was pure fate. The ups and downs and the heart crushing growth was wonderful. I love these books.
4.5 Stars I’ll admit it – the minute I saw this cover, I HAD TO MEET Evan James!! Seriously, that hair, those lips? YES!! And I was not disappointed in this singer/songwriter, sexy, all-around yummy book boyfriend! And to have this be a second chance love story was just what I needed to while away some hours. Evan and Madison/Maddy/Sunshine were friends and lovers early on. But as can sometimes happen, life gets in the way and heartbreak ensued. Fast forward a few years and Maddy’s life is filled with friends, laughter, and a new boyfriend. She’s sassy, caring, and not quite over her first love. Evan is at a crossroads, having traveled the road and made a name for himself. What happens when these two are thrown back together to help their best friends in Without You is real, fun, and full of sweet, romantic moments – ones that make you catch your breath with the sexual tension. Julie Prestsater captures dialogue, heartfelt scenes, and had me laughing and crying. I felt like I was right in the story with Evan and Maddy. Adding in the aspect of his songs, particularly Without You, made my musician-loving heart beyond happy. Overall, a sexy, emotion-filled read that I loved!
