Irving Wallace was one of the great authors of the 20th century. His stories quickly envelop you and don’t let go. A read The Word when it first came out in the early 1970’s. This is the 3rd time I’ve read it and it was just as enthralling as the first time. Lots of twists and turns in this one. Well developed characters. Some explicit sex and not a book for children. A book of deceit, lies, truth, hope, faith, despair and contentment. Highly recommend.

Irving Wallace has spun a captivating tale of an alternate ending to the Crucifiction. For a moment we are led to contemplate the possibility of what might have happened had Jesus not died on the cross. The story has all the elements of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but Wallace ties it all together with a highly unbelievable series of events that are exasperating on one hand and lacking in credibility on the other. Yet his main story line is an electrifying concept that compels one to want to believe. The reader is drawn through all its twists and turns towards a dangling ending which leaves one grasping for a sense of closure that might not have come on the hill of Golgotha after all.

I rate this 5 stars.. Its is a first-class book to read. For those people who read Da Vinci Code, this is a must. Every plot of the page is thrilling, puzzling, teasing, most of all, wanting to know more about the 'TRUTH'!

Whoever decided to compare this two was way off base. This books drags for the most part, it gets a little interesting after 400 pages only to reach an unsatisfying closure! I was expecting a profound and well researched novel and ended up reading a cheap airport paperback with tasteless sexual scenes (so uncalled for) and ultimately a story that is not believable at all... I don´t care if this is a bestseller, I say don´t bother!

I read this in 1972 when if was first released. As of today it is still my all time favorite book I have ever read. I lost my copy and just ordered a new one to reread and several to give to friends. If you liked the Da Vinci Code you will Love this!!

This book was so horrible I could not finish it! It was the most awful piece of cliche dribble I have found in a long time (on the level of a romance novel). I was so disappointed because the plot sounded interesting, but could not get passed the poor writing style.
