Overview

Triathletes who hope to improve their swimming too often mix and match workouts or workout segments with no particular goal. The workouts in this set provide a handy, compact, inspiring — and waterproof — program. The book comprises seven workout categories: Anaerobic Endurance Speed, Anaerobic Endurance Form, Force Speed, Force Form, Muscular Endurance Speed, Muscular Endurance Form, and Muscular Endurance Distance. The variety of workouts included and their ease of use keep the process engaging and allow users to more easily achieve elusive swimming goals. Workouts in a Binder can easily be used in conjunction with triathlon training manuals such as Training Plans for Multisport Athletes or The Triathlete's Training Bible, or as stand-alone workouts for swimmers.

I'm a Masters swimmer and triathlete, and I use this workout guide every week. This is an excellent resource for swimmers/triathletes who need help putting together effective, invigorating workouts on their own. This varied collection of workouts provides a perfect alternative to a Masters session. I have only two minor caveats: The workouts max out around 3200 yards/meters (the distances are numbered to be used in either a short or long course pool), so you'll need to add your own sets to increase that distance. Also, there's very little stroke work (which is relevant mainly for serious swimmers), so again, you'll need to add your own sets for non-freestyle practice. However, all in all, this book is well worth the money.

Everyone who has seen me swim with this book has asked to borrow it. It is a great tool for any swimmer needing to change their daily swim workout. I would recommend this to anyone for a new focus on swimming and pushing your limits. Easy to follow, and fun!!

Really great book if you are training for tri's and need to go to the pool with a structured workout to accomplish. I have throughly enjoyed using it for 2 years now. There are many workout options and each option has 2 different distances. The downside to the book? Well, maybe the only downside is that it doesn't really cater to 'new' swimmers who can't swim more than around 1500 yards a session. Although, the workouts are easy to trim down on the fly poolside.

WOW! I was struggling at first with swimming. Being a triathlete you need to swim, bike, and run! well of coarse everyone can do the bike and the run..with just some hard core training. well not everyone is a good swimmer. It took me a very long time to just get into the water! I needed some way to become a better and strong swimmer. This book did the trick. It teaches you great workouts for when you're swimming, and helps you mentally prepare for your next race! I enjoyed reading it.

This book was exactly what I needed to add some structure to my Ironman training routine. I feel like I have grown more as a swimmer in 4 weeks than in years of swimming with no purpose.
