No other book helped me to see the interconnectedness of our actions as clearly as The World Peace Diet. I had been vegetarian and even vegan on and off since I was a teenager but only for health reasons not realizing the damage I was contributing to our community with my actions. Like many involved in the green movement, vegetarian movement and raw living food movement I was thinking of health in terms the physical and had neglected a big part of what was ailing me and the rest of my colleagues. my emotional, spiritual and psychic health were all suffering because I was unaware that my actions spoke louder than my good intentions. This book made it very clear and easy for me to change my behavior. I was no longer conflicted or confused about reasons, safety, protein, or what people would say. I became congruent in actions speech and mind in a way that was new to me. This is not just a book about animal welfare but about all of us and what we can do to heal our species and our planet.

I just finished reading this book and I think it has the potential to save many lives. And the more of us who read it and embody its message, the more lives will be saved. Beautifully written, artfully articulated and methodically researched, The World Peace Diet offers the key to unlocking the barriers to the transformation of our world. Dr. Tuttle¿s basic premise is that the profound disconnection between our natural compassion and the horrific suffering endured by innocent animals to become food on our plates is the root cause of the aggression, separation, fear, violence and exploitation dominating the cultural paradigm of our world today. This pervading ¿herding¿ paradigm, and the powerful forces of agribusiness (the meat, dairy and egg industries) that directly benefit from public consumption of their products, methodically distorts, manipulates and hides the true terror, cruelty and suffering of animals that is basic to their practices. Dr. Tuttle masterfully demonstrates how, from birth to death, the herding paradigm is forced upon us by those with a vested interest in perpetuating this mythos ¿ including corporations, government, the medical-pharmaceutical complex, media, religion and family traditions ¿ creating a state of deep denial, blocked intelligence and superficial spirituality. In chapter after chapter, Dr. Tuttle leads us into the truth of this dominator mythos, and lifts the veil to our natural compassion for the gentle, sensitive, defenseless, non-human animals used for food, who share our nervous system and our capacity for physical and psychological pain. These mysterious fellow animals have been created by the same Infinite Loving Intelligence that created humans, and they have much wisdom to teach us. Their lives and their desire to experience joy and avoid pain are just as cherished by them as our lives are to us. In essence, The World Peace Diet is a call to our heart¿s wisdom and true nature to awaken and to strengthen us to choose compassion over self-gratification and mindfulness over habits, as we nurture our bodies and minds through the foods we eat. The vegan revolution of heart, mind and body can enable us as a people to bring forth the transformation of our world to one of peace, harmony, loving kindness, respect and reverence for the interconnectedness and sacredness of all life. I believe this visionary book makes a truly great gift for yourself, your acquaintances, and the future of our world.

I had seen Will Tuttle in videos and was turned off by what struck me as an infomercial personality and style. So I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this book is. The book is fundamentally about compassion and ahimsa, and the overall thesis is that if you are authentically compassionate towards your fellow beings, you should then be a vegan. He can be eloquent, and his argument is convincing. In fact I have purchased copies of the book to give to others to read in the hopes that they, too, will benefit from this way of thinking, as well as give benefits to others. There is one chapter and a few other passages that smack of pseudoscience, but they are not enough to undermine his story.
