Wonderful book. Amazing pictures, both dark and beautiful. By using fiction to paint the possible reality of our future, M.Monget invites us to a disturbing but fascinating voyage. Fiction? Not really any more. Could we still see snow on the top of the mount kilimandjaro ? Have California or Greece not been victim of terrible fires ? Is Bangladesh not at the dawn of Drowning ? This is not just about a book or matte painting issue. Global warming and consequences, wich are the point here, concern us all. We should not laugh about those how cares about our future. And a day may come when we will remember it.
I actually had an idea for a series of paintings along this line as I've always enjoyed the cover art of many a 'End of the World' Science Fiction potboiler, Not mention matte paintings of ruined vistas of modern cities. I also love films that employed this sort of imagery using matte paintings ( Planet of the Apes, Logans Run, Day the Earth Caught Fire,etc.). I picked up this book at the book store and immediately started laughing at the amazingly bad 'Photoshop' art work. Looks like cutup postcards pasted on top of jungles, deserts, artic wasteland, etc. Pretty bad avoid this poorly executed book of a what is still a good idea for one.
