About the Author
Originally from Virginia, Dr. Driskill and his family served as missionaries to Japan for over 20 years. During that time he was the organizing pastor for three new churches in Japan and helped in developing six others as well as two Christian schools. Since leaving Japan, Dr. Driskill has served several Presbyterian churches, including Japanese-American churches in the Los Angeles area, preaching in both English and Japanese. He moved to Westminster Gardens, a missionary retirement home in California after a long career in ministry in the U.S. and Japan.
What People are Saying About This
Dr. Paul E. Pierson, Dean Emeritus, School of World Mission, Fuller Seminary: "The younger generation in the church today needs to discover the marvelous, rich heritage of those who have gone to a variety of countries to help plant the church of Jesus Christ. This collection of stories about the worldwide church is an important help in this task."
Dr. J. Christy Wilson, Jr., Emeritus Professor, World Evangelism, Gordon-Conwell Seminary: "Next to the Bible, I believe missionary stories are the most inspiring in existence for they demonstrate God's works and miracles through real people in our times. Here Dr. Driskill, himself a missionary to Japan, shares thrilling experiences of modern Christian heroes and heroines. I enthusiastically commend this book for readers of all ages."
Dr. Clifton Kirkpatrick, Director, Worldwide Ministries Division, Presbyterian Church (USA): "Lawrence Driskill has a remarkable way of making Christian mission come alive! In "Worldwide Mission Stories for Young People," Driskill tells the true-life experience of missionaries in many countries with humor, insight and power. These stories serve as an inspiration to all and especially to the young of the power of Christ at work with people around the world."
