Worth Lord Of Reckoning by Grace Burrowes

Consummate man of business and rake at large, Worth Kettering, repairs to his country estate to sort out his familial situation, trusting the ever efficient (though as yet unmet) housekeeper, Jacaranda Wyeth, will provide his family a pleasant summer retreat. To his surprise, his household is manage by a quick-witted, violet-eyed beauty who's his match in many regards.
As Jacaranda and Worth become enamored, the family she's kept hidden from him, the financial clients Worth feels singularly protective of, and the ragged state of affairs between Worth and his estranged older brother Hessian all conspire to keep Worth and Jacaranda apart. Worth must choose between love and profit, and Jacaranda must decide between loyalty to her family, and the love of a man who values her above all others.

This book is very well written, sweet romance with nothing there. The leading man is portrayed as a kind and gentle UN-titled ( rich) gentlemen- a refreshing change from the rake one reads about in most books of this genre, BUT ( spoiler alert) he does things most nights; that a gentleman wouldn't do. The lamest of excuses to keep the story going is her ill-placed sense of loyalty and perhaps propriety. As I noted earlier, there's no substance there. One could choose to read it, after all; it's free!

I stalled out on this book and honestly don't know if the characters weren't as engaging as others in the series or iI'm trying to catch up on Ms. Burrowes' series too quickly. I liked Worth and Jacaranda, but the pacing of the story didn't quite work for me. I'll probably end up rereading this book and others in the series later. I feel like I need a flow-chart of who is related, friends, working for, enemies to whom.

This conclusion in the series was well-written, but a little repetitive where the lovers continually part and reunite. Grace Burrowes still is one of the best of recent authors of Regency romance. Looking foward the future books!

I love the slow build in this story and Worth Kettering is my kind of guy. Why she is holding backfrom him is a little weak...but otherwise a nicely nuanced story. Definitely worth it... The cover is all wrong though. This man would never have such a knowing smirk.

Nice light read. I liked the character development. A stand alone book no cliffhanger. Will look into other books by this author.

Fine story line, humorous, endearing characters BUT WAY TOO DRAWN OUT...between the character babble and drawn out love scenes, i was glad when I finished the book.
