Worth the Scandal by Karen Erickson

Strictly business? Try telling that to her heart...

Worth It, Book 1

Alexander Worth, President and CEO of Worth Luxury Goods, is a man never to be crossed. His unwavering sense of responsibility to the family business requires him to always be in complete and utter control. Until it comes to Tessa Crawford.

She's quietly professional, shy, voluptuous...and she works for him. Which means she is the one woman he must never touch, no matter how hard his gut twists with need for her.

After rising above her disadvantaged childhood, Tessa knows the last thing she should do is risk throwing it all away by falling into bed with her sexy boss. But on an extended European business trip, all self-imposed barriers burn away in the heat of their sizzling chemistry.

Once back home, though, whispers of corporate espionage turn into full-blown scandal-and Tessa finds out the hard way where Alex's loyalties lie. Determined to soldier on, she picks herself up and carries on with a secret, yet welcomed burden. Never guessing that Alex will make a reappearance in her life, ready to show her once and for all that family does, indeed, come first.

Warning: Contains a sweet-yet-strong woman, and a bossy alpha male brought to his knees by the woman he desperately loves. Involves enough begging and groveling that the reader may be tempted to "accidentally" leave it for her significant other to "find". For instructional purposes only, of course!

About the Author

Karen Erickson has always loved the written word. From being one of the best readers in her kindergarten class to penning romantic stories that never ended about Duran Duran in high school, she always wanted to write. It just took her a while to seriously pursue it. With the birth of her third child came a realization – it’s one thing to talk about writing a book, another thing entirely to actually do it. She’s been published since 2006. Karen’s a native Californian who lives in the foothills below Yosemite with her husband, three children, one dog, and too many cats.

Ok, so the plot was a little predictable, but that didnt bother me. I liked the synopsis. What i didn't like was the whiny heroine. She started off great. Capable, efficient, pretty....but then she had some really bad scenes that i just couldnt get over (hence only the 3 stars). I didnt really feel the connection between the two leads. I guess that could be contributed to the fact that i didn't like her (i found her much too insecure). Not bad, but not great.

As posted on The Smutty Kitty 4.5 out of 5 Licks Right off the bat I liked this one. Hot boss with a very properly dressed sexy secretary. One whirlwind trip later and they both are in love but neither is really truly willing to share their feelings. This was a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed the relationship that built between Tessa and Alex. The story is told so well that I found myself lost in it and literally couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I stayed up way too late finishing this one on a work night. lol So I recommend you wait until a day you don’t have to work to read it. You won’t want to put it down!! I cannot wait for the next books in this series!!

If you like your story with the heroine spending up to the last 6-8 pages putting herself down, questionging if he really likes, calling herself names, telling herself she'd Never fit into his world When she is his personal assistant, brushing everything off he says and doesas not meaning anything to him. Alex pretty much does a male version of "she makes me feel like an untried teenager" and the whole not understanding this feeling in his chest. And his character is annoying. Its like he says the words but you just don't feel it. You have probably 185ish pages b4 he even kisses her. BORING....... predictable. Ending of book so so. I have zero desire to read about Hunter. This book was snail slow, little action and no real character development.

The book was of course predictable, but it was still refreshing. The overall story was good, but I believe that some areas were choppy and underdeveloped. The Tessa character could have been a little more refined, but I understood where the author wanted to take her. I enjoyed the ending, but I thought that Tessa should have strengthened her position in the end. Let me add, that I did read the book all in one sitting. : )

14 have never read any books by this author ...I found this book as I was browsing and saw that it was free so I took a chance to read it. I really enjoyed it very much...I think it is a great idea to make the first book in the series free, this definitely has enticed me to read the other two !! I will definitely look for more from this author! I really enjoyed the chemistry between these two characters!!

without trying to spoil the end of the book, i was so disappointed in the actions of the main characters at the end of the book. his thoughts and behavior (and her acceptance of this behavior) was completely unbelievable and cast a negative pall over the entire book.

I felt like it was a pretty good basic romance. If you want to read a book with a somewhat interesting but predictable at points plot its for you. The last line it the cheesest line in the world but still it was a comfy read-when-i'm-feeling-the-need-for-a-quick-romance book.

The plot was pretty pretictable, but what romance novels arent? The romance was good without being over the top and crude. Great book

Check your library before purchasing this book. It was good, but hate when authors do this just to make more money . Same story different cover!!

Same predictable story that's being told repeatedly, only the characters' names have changed. A whiny young woman with no self-confidence gets the rich guy. Glad it was free. Would have been upset if I had paid for this. Was looking for an enjoyable series but was disappointed. I won't read this series and am reluctant to buy this author's books.

The storyline was good and the characters well developed. Would have liked to hear a bit more about the couple after the ending but i suspect they will make cameos in the authors other book to this series. I wouldnt say this was the best book i have read not because it wasnt well written but there was something lackig to keep me hooked. All in all it wasnt bad just not the greatest.

Loved this story.

I really enjoyed this book and if you want a hot and steamy romance with an alpha male then you won't be disappointed. The story itself has been written before, after all, boss and secretary! But I loved the twist with the insider mole and the storyline that went with it. Every girl, at some point in her life, has dreamed of being swept of her feet by a dreamy prince, even if she dreamed of it when she was 7. This book tells the tale of it happening to someone older but you can still lose yourself within the story. Loved it and am looking forward to getting the rest in the series. * Verified Purchase ~ January 2013 * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
