About the Author

S.M. Butler is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of new adult romantic suspense and military romance with a penchant for Dr. Pepper, ice hockey, and world domination, but not necessarily in that order.

She lives in Texas under a not-so-secret identity with two monsters, writing books, and planning the next step in her evil plans into the twilight hours of the night because that's when it's quiet in the house. She loves to hear from readers.

Navy SEAL Eamon Murphy has been in love with Addison Hardy forever but she has always been out of reach.  She's Murphy's best friend's sister. As a 2 year mission comes to an end, SEAL team 13 invades crime lord, Simon Giroux's compound, only to find out that Addison lives there with her boyfriend, Alex Giroux.  SURPRISE!!! Fantastic story!  This is the second book in the Lucky Thirteen series.  I'm addicted!  In my opinion certain things in this book are easier to understand if you have read book one. This book takes off where book one left off.  S.M. Butler knows how to write a Navy SEAL!  Sizzlng chemistry between Murphy and Addison.  My favorite thing about reading military romance is that sense of family.  The fact that your brothers-in-arms will do ANYTHING for you.  I can't wait to read book three in this amazing series. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This picks up with Addison's story, but requires suspension of belief for most of the plot. Murphy, is supposed to be part of a top secret elite Seal team, winds up guarding the younger sister of his best friend on the team, but then falls in love and has sex with her at their secret base, even though she has been involved with an illegal arms dealer and is herself suspected of ties to terrorism. Addison, who is supposed to be smart, spends way too much time bemoaning her lack of relationship with her family as the sibling who never quite matched the success of her secret Seal team slightly older twin brother, not enough in realistic reaction to the trauma she just experienced, and too long on what she and Alex intended, without ever explaining how or why she got into the situation in the first place. There are hints at character development, but not enough details early on to make the reader care. The previous book had value for its exploration of the disconnect and efforts needed to rebuild a relationship after one partner in the relationship has been deployed to combat for long periods of time. Unfortunately, this sequel doesn't hold up to expectations. At $3.99 the editing should be flawless. Instead, there is a missing line of key dialogue, typos that should have been corrected using spell check, and several other errors. Read the first one, but save your money - this one needs a good rewrite before being worth the cost.
