Kunzman, the author, gives a very accurate and objective study on homeschooling among conservative Christians. He does very well with making it clear that not all homeschoolers, including conservative Christian homeschoolers, are this way. Many kids have very positive experiences with homeschooling. Also, as a public school teacher, the author compares what he sees in homeschooling to that of public school. He is fair to both learning styles. I was home schooled with some of the same textbooks Kunzman notes in his book. I can say that this book is very accurate on the content of the textbooks, especially on A Beka textbooks. There are worse in those book than what the author noted, including when their high school history books claim that Asians in the early 1900 stole jobs from American citizens and that they were "opium smokers." I feel sorry for many of the children in Kunzman's book. Homeschooling can be a great option if used correctly. I give this book a 4 star instead of a 5 star because at times the author's logic is a little bit off. For the vast majority of the book, however, he is spot on.
