This workbook provides almost 200 pages of ideas for writing practice, starting with sentences, progressing to paragraphs, and finally offering a variety of composition topics. The sentence and paragraph exercises are organised into themes, such as animals, transport and sports, while the composition exercises give practice in narrative, descriptive, informative and persuasive essays. Plenty of space is provided for each exercise, so that students can keep a record, in one handy book, of all the writing performed over a period of time. The book can be shared by several family members, (making a wonderful family memento), with the younger children working on their sentences and paragraphs, while the older ones practise their compositions. Alternatively, the workbook can be used by ESL students of all ages and stages who wish to improve their written English through regular writing practice.

This is an unusual writing practice book. i bought a copy for my grandchildren so that I would have a record of their writing from their early years (when children's writing is full of funny mistakes, but is very cute and touching to read) to their later years in high school. To be able to see the evolution of a child's progress through learning the difficult task of writing is a fascinating process, and a book like this is the perfect way to capture a record of that evolution. The book starts with plenty of simple practice writing just with sentences, then goes on to paragraphs and finally to essay practice. I love the variety of essay topics, and also love the way ideas for sentences and paragraphs are set to a theme per page. This is an interesting book for anyone who wants to keep a record of writing progress and improvement.
