"Jordan Dane crafts nail-biting thrillers with fully-realized but very damaged characters, and plots that twist and turn and double-back to bite the unwary. Her novels are 21st Noir with guts and heart and a wicked sense of humor."

Seth Harper was a good man who seemed to get in trouble without trying. When he started drinking in a bar and found himself coming to somewhere with a dead woman in a motel bathroom, he had no idea what had happened but the police were there shouting for him to get on his knees. What happened? Needless to say the arrest didn't go well as Seth was mostly out of it not knowing where he was or what had occurred. All he knew was that he had to barf! Detectives Samantha Cooper and Ray Garza were Chicago Homicide Detectives. When Ray saw that Seth had been arrested, he gave Sam a heads up since she was a friend of Seth's and she came to observe the questioning. Sam also was a very close friend of bounty hunter Jessie Beckett who was a VERY close friend of Seth's. Jessie was a ruthless bounty hunter, not caring how far she had to go to get a wanted person. She worked alone until Alexa came on the scene and explained to Jessie that she had connections through the company she worked for and tried to talk Jess into working with her and sharing their knowledge to assist both of them. Reluctantly, Jess gave in but it took a lot of time for her to trust Alexa even partially. Jessie started her investigation while still bounty hunting. Seth was a good friend and she strongly doubted that he could murder anyone. She hit the prostitute row in Chicago and as she dug, more murder occurred and much violence. She intertwined with Sam in giving and receiving evidence on Seth and crossed paths with many seedy violent characters that sometimes fought her and hurt her. But Jess wouldn't give up in clearing Seth but she felt sometimes she was chasing ghosts who sometimes she found dead. She was rather glad to have Alexa and Sam assisting her. Alexa placed a track on Jess so she knew where she was every minute, a process that saved Jess's butt several times. Eventually the investigation narrowed and when all involved in the arrest thought they had their prey cornered, they would either disappear or cause the searchers hurt in some way. Jordan Dane is a great writer. When I read her first books I loved her style. She keeps a mystery just that-a real mystery keeping you guessing up until the end. Her endings are always surprising and unpredictable. Jordan, keep them coming from that brain of yours.

When bounty hunter Jessie Becket was a small child, she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted for years. Although she has come a long way from her horrible youth, she knows she will never be whole. Jessie survives by vowing to keep the young safe. Living in Chicago Jessie has two friends she cherishes; police officer Samantha Cooper, who has assisted her in capturing predators and Seth Harper. However, Jessie is hurt when Seth disappears without warning her he was going away. When he returns, he is accused of a vicious homicide. Although the evidence is strong and she remains angry at Seth, Jessie knows in her soul he could not commit murder. She seeks proof of his innocence, but instead finds damaging information about him that leaves her shaken to the core and in danger from someone who does not want the truth to surface; her biggest fear is that someone is her Seth. This is an exciting suspense thriller that pulls no punches from the start to the finish as Jordan Dane makes it clear there are some nasty people out there. Jess is a strong lead who holds the exhilarating story line and herself together though a dangerous scenario that includes her heart as much as her life. Fans will enjoy this taut Sweet Justice thriller as the investigative suspense grips the reader throughout. Harriet Klausner

This novel starts off with Seth Harper who wakes up in a drug induced nightmare and discovers a dead female. He recollects going to a bar the night before and seeing a blonde female and he has no memory of what took place. The bartender says he remembers a male with a serpent like tattoo on his arm grab Seth. Seth has a friend named Jessie Beckett who is a Bounty Hunter and is shocked to learn his situation. The victim was a hooker who goes by the name of Desiree Vincent and she had a horrible crank addiction. Seth was friends with her and knew her as Mandy. Mandy had a boyfriend named Jason Burke who was a very shady character. We later learn that Jessie has a horrible past life including being held captive by a serial pedophile that killed and abused children; herself as well. In a strange turn of events, a Detective Max Jenkins rescues her from this house and that the suspect Danny Ray Millstone was killed during the siege. Jessie later determines that Seth is Max Jenkins son and this puts her over the edge, she feels like he betrayed her. The more Jessie continues in the present case, the more she underestimates the friendship with Seth. Jessie soon learns that Max has gone through struggles of his own, alcoholism and now suffers from dementia. Apparently, the Millstone case is what sent him in his downward spiral. Sam Cooper is a friend of Jessie's who is a Vice Cop. Sam actually saw Jessie when she was being held captive in the Millstone house and has been riddled with guilt all these years. She assists Jessie on helping her find out what really happened with Seth. Alexa shows up and agrees to help Jessie as well in order to gain leverage in the case. Alexa and Jessie confront Jason Burke and he tells them that Mandy was involved in a blackmail scheme. As the case progresses, another hooker shows up dead, Camille Regan, aka Jade. Coincidentally, this is the same person who tried to accuse Seth of assaulting her. Meanwhile, Jessie and Alexa are harassed by two bad characters, Sal Pinzolo and Nadir Beladi. Seth tells Jessie goodbye and does his best to lay low. He is spotted by a PI that saw him at the nursing home where his father is being kept. Somebody had taken his father and is now threatening to kill him unless Seth complies. In the mean time, Jessie finds Seth and learns that his father is kidnapped. Eventually, Jessie returns to the Millstone house and finds Seth severely injured and Jake Cordell was responsible for it. Jake is the bartender at Dirty Monty's that pumped Seth full of misinformation. He tells them that Mandy had heard about a side business that Beladi and Pinzolo were involved in. Jake was also framing Seth because he was jealous of the friendship that Mandy and Seth had. A fire is set at the Millstone residence and the future looks bleak for all the people trapped inside it. In the meantime, Sam shows up and is able to rescue everyone safely. Jake is arrested, along with Pinzolo who is later released. Later, the police find Pinzolo's body in the lake and he had been shot twice. Seth is finally cleared of the murders of both hookers and pays for Mandy's funeral expenses. In the end, Seth winds up with Alexa and this bothers Jessie so much, she realizes her feelings that she has for him. It concludes with Jessie wanting to leave and take a job with Garrett Wheeler, Alexa's former lover.
