A famous surgeon leaves Paris to join his conscripted childhood friend in the German trenches of the Great War. Their technical skills embroil them in espionage and make them famous, which proves to be more dangerous than useful. Hated by the Kaiser, hunted by Churchill and finally captured by Patton, they find themselves in the center of the most brutal conflict anyone had ever seen, trying to survive the unsurvivable.
