Hardwick and Hodgin have done a marvelous job with this highly readable compendium of compelling stories.  Their use of an open ended interview format allows for  each participant's memories to be shared in his/her own words.  The design of the book which is interspersed with brief historical sketches of the many leaders on all sides of the war gives context for the amazing stories told by these surviving heroes. I highly recommend WWII Duty, Honor, Country to history students young and old, as well as family members of  those who served. Janet M

This book does an amazing job of capturing the stories of our ‘greatest generation.’  I love how the authors shared the recollections of the veterans using their own words as it made the history come to life.  Many thanks for allowing these important memoirs to be shared with generations to come.

HISTORY IS PRESERVED THROUGH PERSONAL STORIES AND PICTURES:  Steve Hardwick and Duane Hodgin interviewed, contacted and/or taped these 84 WW II heroes with the skill and devotion of true educators.  Steve's elementary school teaching experiences combined with Duane's secondary school interactions provide the right stuff that makes this book enjoyable and readable for all.  As a former superintendent of schools I believe this collections of stories will make a wonderful supplement to any curriculum.  Bravo to these two men and for the students who encouraged and assisted in this effort to capture WWII history from those who served our country.  Dr. Mike Copper

This WWII book is a compilation of stories that needed to be told as our aging WW II veterans are leaving us too quickly. Their stories in their own words puts the everyday activities during WW II into a better perspective than just facts in the text books. We need more books like this one. Thanks Steve and Duane. As a history teacher for 40 yrs., I wish this book had been available when I  was teaching. Rick Reeves, retired history teacher.

Authors and educators Hodgin and Hardwick have recorded the stories of 84 men and women who lived through the experience of WWII; engaged on the front lines of combat and support. Read this wonderful book and understand the life-changing events of WWII.  This book also sets the stage for understanding the people and events leading up to the war. The information is presented in a bold, compelling and approachable way. You’ll better understand the challenge faced by the courageous people who fought against the forces of evil and world domination. Your life will be enriched by learning, from personal perspectives, what this generation did for us and our country. Their actions turned the destiny of the world toward liberty.  These stories of the men and women who served in WWII are precious threads in the vivid tapestry we call America. It’s a book to cherish. Buy one for yourself and for those you care about. Their lives will be better for it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It stands up very well with other first person historical accounts of WWII. Well written, entertaining, factually correct, brought to life by those very servicemen who were there. The idea behind this book was inspired, and generations will now learn how this war effected servicemen, families, industry, everyone. It gives great perspective on so much. I'm confident I'll reread this in the future. Rick Niersbach

Best compilation of WWII veteran stories I have see in one place. The authors even found a twin who survived genetics experiments at Auschwitz. The book is appropriate for young readers with great pictures too! Highly recommended.

This is a great book - it was so interesting to read all these mens memories and how they fought for our country and its independence. This book should be in every classroom so future generations will know how this war was really fought.

This book is written in a fashion that replays the actual accounts of these veterans in within the context of the war itself.  My grandfather served in WW2, but he never talked about it.  I think this book gave me a much better feel for what he might have been going through than the typical historical.  I enjoyed this book. narrative.

Duane Hodgin, and Steve Hardwick have created a historical book that will be a favorite for many regional high schools and colleges studying World War II and it's impact on our many veterans and their families. It was hard to put it down. We are excited about a book signing in the future.

Duane Hodgin and Steve Hardwick give an honorable tribute to our WWII Veterans from Indiana who served with valor and glory. I am grateful to have my father, Averitte W. Corley, included in this treasured keepsake of preserved memories. My father is a Congressional Gold Medal recipient as being one of the original Montford Point Marines, the first Black United States Marines to serve in WWII between 1942-1949. The book is a wonderful feature of our WWII Veterans' highlights and history. I am delighted to have this publication and I appreciate the efforts of Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Hardwick to extend this person tribute to all involved. A very proud and great read!
