Donna Michaels wrote a romance of love denied. Lea was Ben's baby sister's dbest friend. She was 11 years old when he taught her how to bat. She caught him necking with her older sister, Gwen, down in her basement before he graduated from high school. They were always friends. It all changed the day Ben realized she was a beautiful, sexy woman. He had no experience in dealing with his emotions and he had no idea what he was feeling for his friend from his youth. Added to his quandary was the fact she dreamed of working in New York City, a place that 9/11 destroyed for him. It all depended on Ben finding his way through the quagmire of his past and Lea being the adult in not losing her head over him. Hard to do. Maybe too hard. I recommend this story built on family and bondings of friends and family. I lowered my rating because of the grammatical and spelling errors that caused some confusion.

Enjoyed the two main characters and strange and loving relationship. Loved Lea she is a strong woman who knows what she wants in life and goes for it. Ben would have avoided a lot of his phobia if he had learned to deal with them instead of internalizing them. I am glad he finally got at the end.

A cute story. There is a happy ending. I just felt like he would take one step forward and three back. Which didn’t make for a great story. But was still good.

Got tired ofthe same old sex scenes. Why is it necessary to use the Lord's name in vain constantly? Lml

It seemed redundant to me about Ben and Lea. I skipped over a lot.

I thought the plot and situations were different and great. As a retired teacher I must critique your descriptive words. Three words were overused and were used to described great and terrible nouns and situations, making the meaning ambiguous.

GJRA. Loved this 186 pages story, wish it had been longer and had an epilogue, kept me interested all the way to the end. Humor and romance. GJRA

This story makes me want to the rest of the books. Wish there was more to this story. Did Ben come to NYC to spend time with Lea? I wonder if her sister finds someone?

4 stars I received a free copy of Wyne and Dine: A Citizen Soldier Series:Guarding the Hearts in the Pocono Valley book 1 Ben by Donna Michaels and this review was given freely A fake girlfriend, good friends, unrequited love, best friend's little sister/best friend's older brother romance. Ben Wyne originally asks his sister's best friend Lea to act as his girlfriend to protect himself from a married woman but what he gets is a steamy but rocky romance as Ben learns to accept his feelings for Lea and Lea learns it is okay to sometimes let her siblings help. A large number of complex characters, humor, interfering but caring families, a wedding, good friends, and a happy ending are easily blended in this full length novel including the PA based Wyne national Guard family.
