This book was amazing. Amy Poehler is amazing. The audiobook of this is really the best way to experience Yes Please. Not only does Amy narrate it herself, but she has guests speak in it as well! It was so much fun learning about Amy's journey as a female comedian and to hear about her experience into motherhood and her divorce. I just love everything this woman does and her sense of humor is perfect. The chapter on Parks and Rec definitely made me happy and sort of emotional, it's one of my all time favorite shows. I loved that she included audioclips from some of the best Leslie and Ben scenes. I just absolutely loved this so much, and I will be rereading the physical book in the very near future. Yes Please just proves that not only is Amy Poehler one of the top female comedians in the industry but is extremely smart and almost easy to relate to (minus the fame, money, and top notch celebrity friends). If you aren't already a fan of Amy Poehler than I dare you to read this and not love her by the last chapter. If you ARE a fan, than why haven't you read this yet?!

I'm not an Amy Poehler fan. I don't dislike her. I just don't know very much about her, other than that she is the voice of Joy in Pixar's Inside Out. I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I were an actual fan. This book is a mix of things: a somewhat jumbled chronology of her life, a compilation of random stories and poems, with nuggets of wisdom interspersed throughout. I appreciated her desire to be honest. I enjoyed the portions that discussed pregnancy, labor, and motherhood because I could relate. The middle of the book focused on her time on Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation. I don't watch either of these shows, so these sections were over my head. There was a lot of name dropping that was lost on me. A lot of the book was supposed to be funny...I think. But it didn't really resonate with me. I'm a pretty serious person. I'm really not into comedy. Hence the reason I don't watch SNL (and I cannot stay up that late). The writing is not great. Many sections read like a resume, with listings of dates and shows or theaters or buildings. I found myself bored several times while listening to this audiobook. If you're a fan of Amy Poehler, by all means, read this book. If you're not a fan, you can probably skip this one. http://momsradius.blogspot.com/2015/08/book-review-yes-please.html

I wanted to like this (audio) book sooooo bad. I was painfully bored. She dropped a lot of big names, and still couldn't make it interesting.
