I have just finished reading Christian Specht's novel, THE YOOP. I read many of his works over the years, and THE YOOP is my favorite. The story revolves around the life and times of the main character, David Brendt). It also tells a story of a group of young men(Buzz, Hoover, Stan and David), who have a common bond in The Lodge, located in the remote area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The story details the many changes in their lives, and how they continue to interact over the years. The one constant seems to be that The Lodge doesn't change, and is a refuge from the rat race for them. There is much fun and relaxation occurring at The Lodge. THE YOOP does, however bring some change to The Lodge in the form of new characters(professional drunk Fuzzy, Ashley the Playmate), and wild plot twists. There is also a return visit from bikers Crash Maddox and Bogart from "Springtime in Wisconsin". I heartily recommend this book.
