You Belong to Me - Romantic Suspense at it's Best!!! Title: You Belong to Me Author: Karen Rose Narrator: Marquerite Gavin Length: Unabridged; 16 hours 46 minutes Publisher: Blackstone Audio Published: June 7, 2011 Genres: Fiction; Mystery; Romantic Suspense; Detective and Mystery Stories My Rating: ¿¿¿¿¿ Synopsis: Years ago, a young woman was beaten and raped while onlookers did nothing. Now those witnesses are becoming victims themselves.  Baltimore Homicide Detective J. D. Fitzpatrick has seen a lot of horrific violence, both as a cop and during his deployment in Afghanistan, but nothing like the trail of tortured bodies that are turning up throughout the city. He's up against a brutal killer with a very personal vendetta, and now J. D. is beginning to suspect that his medical examiner may be shielding some crucial evidence linked to the case. Assigned to the murder victims, forensic pathologist Dr. Lucy Trask is intrigued by J. D.'s compassion, but she isn't about to mix work with pleasure. Not while there's a ruthless killer on the loose. And definitely not while she's keeping a dark secret that could connect her to these vicious killings--and put her next on the hit list.  This is the first book in a new series from acclaimed romantic suspense author -- Karen Rose, author of Scream for Me, Die for Me, Kill for Me, and Silent Scream. My Review: Karen Rose has very quickly come to be one of my favorite author's. I've both read and listened to her books and have fallen in love with each format. I listened to You Belong to Me and think that Marquerite Gavin does a phenomenal job of reading Karen Rose's books! As with every other Rose book that I've read, this book just left me dying to start the next one!  I inadvertently read You Belong to Me and No One Left to Tell out of order, but it wasn't too big of a deal! I was still able to follow both books closely without much confusion.  The characters of this book are awesome! I love Lucy and her strong independent personality and JD and Stevie are the team to beat!! Rose does a wonderful job of intertwining the lives of all of her characters together, but still being able to keep them separate!  I think that Rose has found the delicate balance needed for a successful romantic suspense novel. She sure does know how to steam up a room though! But yet, even though she can steam up a room, she doesn't let it overpower the mystery at hand! Rose is spectacular at writing an edge-of-your seat suspense novel, that keeps you guessing at every turn.  I do think that her stories can be lengthy at times, however, even though lengthy, the story does not drag on to the point that it's beat up. Rose makes it work, and work well it does! Overall, I loved this book, and can't wait to get through all of the next book in this (well both) series...Did You Miss Me? I'm sure it'll be just as great as every other book I've read by Karen Rose!

I read all of her books and have yet to be disappointed. It is good not heavy reading. Not really discussion material, but enjoyable mystery.

This is the first of Karen Rose's books I have read. From page one to the end....I was drawn in. Read the entire book in one sitting. A definite page turner. I will read all of her books. Already preordered her next book coming out on June 5, 2012. Fantastic, edge of your seat thriller. A must read.

Ms. Rose's You Belong To Me is a masterful blend of suspense and romance. Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick and Dr. Lucy Trask play across the pages in symphonic perfection. The secondary characters of partners, family, and friends add rich, depth and texture to the story. You Belong To Me is Ms. Rose's best book to date.

Karen Rose is a master at weaving psychological scares! I loved escaping away to her tale of thrilling, sexy, intrigue. I bumped all other books for hers at the time. The tale had me coming back for more whenever I had to leave it. Cannot wait for another page turner from her.

Early in the morning while singing along with ZZ Top, Baltimore medical examiner Dr. Lucy Trask jogs. She stops when she notices sexagenarian Mr. Pugh sitting by himself at a chess table. She assumes he wandered out of his apartment so she goes over to help him home only to find the Alzheimer's ailing man dead with his face gone. She calls 911; Baltimore PD Detectives J.D. Fitzpatrick and Stevie Mazzetti lead the inquiry. The shoes are wrong leading Trask to realize the victim is not Mr. Pugh. The victim is identified as Christopher Jones due to cheek implants, but the cops find Jones alive. Lucy realizes the deceased is cosmetic surgeon Dr. Russ Bennett, who she has a history with. Soon other tortured dead are found, some of which the M.E. knows. Lucy wonders if the psychopath is tied to the decades old incident that left her distrusting people. This is a strong police procedural with a deep cast starting with the beleaguered heroine, the cop who she likes but avoids and the amoral killer. Fast-paced with superb twists, readers will relish this terrific tale of an insane predatory killing machine lacking any societal restraints. Harriet Klausner

What can I say...I stumbled onto this book and wanted something different to read and I am so glad I did. Intense and drew me in from page 1. So many dead and I did NOT see the killer coming until the end. Love love LOVED it

A terrific book in a series by Karen Rose that uses Baltimore as the thread of continuity, rather than one character. I had to buy the next one!

¿You belong to Me¿ is the kind of book that I really enjoy reading. The main character Lucy Task is a medical examiner and a runner, who while on her morning run in a neighborhood Baltimore park, finds the body of a victim that she believes to be a close friend from her home town. Is it a coincidence that she finds this body or is there a more sinister reason for her to be pulled into this death scene and it seems, this brutal murder? Lucy has a troubling past that continues to have an impact on her life, and the investigation by Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick becomes personal for them both. The question is, how personal will it become and is that good or bad for her and the Detective given their roles and responsibilities in this investigation. This is a romantic suspense story with a likable but strange heroine. There are many unanswered questions about Lucy¿s past and only some of them are answered in this story. One immediate question for this storyline is whether she is also the target of this brutal killer and are they connected by their history. For me, the second big question is if Lucy and the murderer are connected, will there be other victims and who will they be?The format of this book uses headings in bold to define the times and places of the scenes to take place. The action takes place over a few days, except for the first and last chapters. It is a simple way to set the stage for when and where the events are happening, but I found it a bit disruptive. This was a good book and I really enjoyed the story. ¿You belong to Me¿ has suspense, action and romance and I would recommend it to lovers of romance, mystery and forensic detective stories. Thank you to Goodreads for awarding me this Early Reader copy.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Karen Rose is literally as good as it gets in writing romantic mystery/thrillers. No one can do what she can. She puts you straight into the lives of the MCs and victims, making them feel like characters you've been reading about for years. At the same time, she puts you in the mind of the killers with chilling success. As you continue to bounce back and forth between different POVs you'll become so addicted to her books that you won't be able to stop until you've read them all. You Belong To Me is no exception. I think this is the first book she has written that isn't connected to all her previous works, but I didn't miss having familiar names and places. I am intrigued by some of the other characters introduced, so I'm glad she is setting up a new series of connected books. Lucy Trask, the female MC, actually had me constantly back and forth as to whether I liked her personality. But, eventually, enough of her history was revealed that it became easy to forgive her for all of her personality issues. Even if I hadn't ended up liking her, it is really refreshing to have an author unafraid to present her characters warts and all versus making them all unbelievably perfect. Although, J.D. Fitzpatrick was pretty darn wonderful. The tough-yet-sensitive-cop character type that will never get old. I love how we get bits and pieces of the story, some that seem completely unrelated, at a time so that it takes awhile before the bigger picture becomes clear. Then, once we know the who and why - she throws in a curve that will take you by the throat until the very end. The story that starts with Lucy's older brother in high school, continues through his seemingly accidental death and through to the current day and the twelve victims a killer bent on revenge leaves behind will leave you second guessing everything and everyone you come across while reading. If you're a fan of the romantic suspense genre, you definitely can't pass this one by!

Loved the chemistry between Jessy and Lincoln, their rocky road to happiness and throw in some suspense too. Plenty of steamy sex scenes. A great story
