You Live and You Learn is a story of a woman, Reyna, who had to risk a little to find love. The story starts with her first relationship after the birth of her son, three years before. Reyna isn't looking for a relationship, but it finds her anyway. However, once she is in the relationship she finds that there is something missing from her life. Reyna is afraid that, because she is a single parent, she will never find anything better, so she tries to make the relationship work as she holds on for dear life. But there is another man who fills her thoughts day after day-a tall, dark, and handsome Irish man with whom she works. Their relationship grows until she realizes what she needs in order to be happy. Reyna says, "A happy ending just means that it hasn't ended yet." Take the journey through Reyna's eyes, and see how it ends.

This book is all about real people. The characters in this story have conflicting emotions and conflicting priorities. The two main characters remind me of me, but the middle man (Lance)has almost no feelings, no relfections. John at times looks like a real jerk, but Reyna can't help but see who he is behind the 20-something who's just having fun. Reyna is so oblivious to people around her it makes her funny. She doesn't understand why people would be attracted to her so she doesn't even try to find out if anyone does. Then when she finds out that people are attracted her she is still so oblivous and doesn't see that the one thing in front of her that she wants is waiting for her to tell him.
