Story line keeps you turning the pages. I couldn't put my nook down until I read the last page! A tragic story of human trafficing, with a twist of romance...already starting on the next book! Can't wait to find out how Emily recovers and moves on with her life after being help captive in the sex trade, for five years!!! Very talented author!

This was probably one of the hardest and most emotional reads that I have read this year. Evie Harper has managed to slip right to the top of my favorite reads for 2014 thus far. She did an outstanding job of bringing such raw emotion into this story.  Lily and her sister, Sasha, finally take time from there busy life on the farm in Australia to travel and see the world. There first stop is in New York City. After spending an amazing two weeks enjoying the city they decide it's time to move on to their next journey. But things take a turn for the worse.  You find love in the most unexpected places. And that happens to Jake. He has a goal and he is set on accomplishing this goal. Nothing will stop him. He will achieve what he has been working at for some time now. He wasn't expecting a distraction so beautifully stunning that it takes his breath away and test his control.  It was by far the most intense, captivating and emotionally draining story I have read that left me sobbing almost throughout the entire book. It was so different from any other romance book out there. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!! From reading this book you would not think that this is a debut novel. This was such a dark emotional read and I f*****g LOVED every minute of it. I devoured this book in one day. I could not put it down. I was drawn to the main characters and felt every f*****g emotion they were going through.  A story of strength, loss, love and survival. Highly f*****g recommended!!!

Evie Harper’s debut novel, You Loved Me at My Darkest is a fascinating yet horrific journey of two sisters thrown into the unthinkable, demoralizing world of human trafficking.  It was brilliantly written, with a thread of violence and romance that is necessary to the plot’s development as well as the secrets held by the main characters.  In the beginning I wavered on finishing the book, because I prefer my HEA and tend to stay away from the darker romances.  I’m glad I continued and "never gave up" reading because this narrative was extremely different from anything I have ever read before.  Your emotions will scatter like leaves in a whirlwind as you read the events the sisters endure.  Caution people grab yourself a box of tissues because you will need them and you will cry! Lily is a beautiful, head-strong heroine taken away from the life she has always known.  She struggles daily to survive and only does so because of the love she feels for her sister, Sasha.  Both have been kidnapped off the streets of New York City and whisked away to hell on earth with no chance of escaping. There is no one to miss them or to come rescue them. Jake is an enigma from the beginning.  He is enthralled by the innocent, beautiful Lily when he spots her at the airport and follows her around the city for two weeks watching her.  He is Marco’s right hand man and will do nothing to jeopardize that position, not for anyone, even Lily.  He is detached from his feelings due to the tragedies he experienced in his past, this makes Jake the perfect soldier to work for Marco. Lily and Sasha learn quickly what their new role in their life with Marco will be and it becomes increasingly harder each day.  Their love for each other is the only thing that matters to them and keeps them going.  They will protect each other at all costs.  Jake and Lily are physically drawn to each other.  Lily feels protected in his arms and Jake wants her as his own.  They are trapped in Marco's web.  I continually pondered what was Jake hiding and were his feelings real? Will Lily and Sasha escape? Is there a future for Jake and Lily together?  This is not your typical romance.  It is dark.  It is violent.  There are many times you will want to hit, punch, throw or gut someone, but that is what makes this book an awesome, unbelievable read.  This book is about surviving the unthinkable and the determination to succeed without ever giving up the belief that they will escape. It is about love conquering all and never giving up. Hero: 4 stars Heroine: 5 stars Steam Level: 4 stars Plot: 5 stars Would I recommend this book: Yes.  The author’s focal point isn’t the sick and depraved world of human trafficking or slavery, its sisterly love and the lengths one will go to protect that bond. Would I recommend this author: Yes.  This is her debut novel and she is more than on my radar now.  She has written an extraordinary story.  I look forward to her next book.  ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

This is a story that will definitely break your heart. What these girls go through is unthinkable. This isn’t your typical story of a woman who has been kidnapped falls in love with her captor. While it’s true that Lily does fall for Jake, her guard during her captivity, he was never portrayed as an evil man. Right from the start he was attracted to Lily and because of that, he refused to abduct her for his boss. Unfortunately, his co-worker did it instead. Lily is a strong willed, level-headed girl and she’s a fighter. She does everything she can to try and make sure her sister escapes and is safe while trying to think of a way to escape for herself. She finds an ally in Jake and he eventually reveals a secret to her that ultimately saves them both. While the story was great, it kind of felt rushed. There were things that took place that seemed a little too unrealistic to me but I think it’s because there’s not much detail, or back story, to these things so they just seemed too easy. I don’t want to give spoilers so I’ll stop there with that comment. Overall, I felt it was a great read!

An uncomfortable circumstance and a story that squeezed my heart Favorite Quotes: “There’s bad men and there’s good men, but Jake keeps swinging like a pendulum between the two, and I can’t fit him into a category where I fell he belongs.” “Hope soaked my soul in heavy want, then lit a match and watched me burn.” “Hearing my woman laugh is the only thing in this world that truly makes me feel like man.” My Review: Reading this book was somewhat of a struggle for me as it is much darker than my typical fare, and I am not a big fan of violence, abuse, or angst. The story is tense and fraught with fear, anxiety, and vile and evil men. While it all seemed rather hopeless and dire, I sensed this was one of those situations where not all were as they seemed, and I hoped beyond measure that Jake was going to be a good guy… for his sake, for her sake, and for my sake, as I would have had to quit reading otherwise. The plot deals with stressful, heavy, heart breaking, and revolting circumstances, and while I know it is occurring right under our noses, it is an unpleasant trade that most of us care not to acknowledge or dwell on. I marvel that despite the bleakness of the situation, the Ms. Harper managed not to be too heavy handed and avoided spiraling into total bleakness, which could easily have happened. She kept that glimmer of hope alive, and those deliciously steamy scenes helped tremendously… and kept me reading… and periodically needing to take a deep breath. Fortunately, Jake did win my heart, and the heart of our intrepid leading lady Lily. I like and want the feisty gals to win, always. I am hoping Book 2 is lighter in nature, as I don’t have any fingernails left!

Wow! I don't even know what to say. This book has been on my tbr for a while and I'm so glad that I finally read it. When I first picked up this book, I wasn't too sure what to expect. When I read the prologue, I was blown away. My heart was broken. I had to read more. I was immediately gripped by Sasha and Lily's story. A trip to the states forever changed their lives. The two women will find themselves in h***, in a life they didn't know existed. No one should have to ever endure what these two women had to. You Loved Me At My Darkest is not an easy read. It's intense and deals with some very difficult subject matter. As intense as it was, I found myself unable to put this book down. I had to know how it would all turn out. I had to know if the sacrifices that were made, would pay off in the end. You Loved Me At My Darkest is dark, intense and captivating. It is a story about the strength of a sisters bond. It is a story of finding love in the most unexpected places. You will be taken on such an incredible journey. You're emotions will be all over the place. As the story unravels there are so many secrets, so many twists and turns. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. You will find yourself wondering who can can trusted? Who is on your side? * I was provided an ARC copy of this book via Enticing Journey Book Promotions, in exchange for an honest review*

Lily- A girl who wants to see the world. Enjoy life with her sister.  Jake- Not scare who gets in his way, he is working his way to top and if people get hurt that's part of the game.  Evie Harper is a new author to me. This is why I love the Indie World. I finding amazing these amazing gems and following them. YLMAMD is an amazing read. Starts fun, gets dark quickly, then very dark. Lily and Jake are both strong and have instant attraction. I liked Lily from the start, sweet caring, fun and loyal. Jake well I loved him then I hated him then I loved him even more. Lastly I loved, loved Jake.  This books comes with a warning but I have read some very very dark books and I think a lot of people would be able to handle this read. Great book to test if your able to handle a dark read.
