I just saw her on Good Morning America talking about skin care. I am a Master Aesthetician and when she mentioned scrubbing your face with sugar or salt I almost fell off my chair! NO...you do not need to exfoliate every day when you get older. Your skin cells turn over LESS frequently and you should only be scrubbing with a scrub that is for your skin type and don't get me started on those cleansing brushes!! First, you cannot santize them. Second, no one uses them properly and they leave little micro tears all over your face. Can you stay Plastic Surgeon in your future??? Unbelievable! The fact that Dr. Oz is promoting her book just tells me as a professional and a consumer that it truly is NOT WHAT YOU KNOW...BUT WHO YOU KNOW. I would never listen to anything this doctor has to say. Just her skin care advice alone is completely ridiculous. Why does every Gynocologist have to enter into the world off beauty and medical spas when they should be focusing on women's general health. Ugh....
Ive never had trouble with my weight until I turned 30. In 5 yrs I was 50lbs overweight and miserable. I started working out and lost 30 lbs over several months. Then the weight loss stopped even though I continued to workout. I was running up to 5 miles a day. I couldnt understand what I was doing wrong. My body did not reflect my workout intensity. I didnt feel my diet was bad in any way. I bought this book because I was interested in the aging of my body since I had turned 40 this year. I liked the way the book read. Easy to understand and follow. Dr. Ashton divides the 'life style' change into 5 wks. I figured I could try it for 5 wks. It isnt a diet. I like that she makes it a point to say that it isnt a diet. It changes the choices you make. She says that if you dont get results in 5 wks then it is your portion sizes. I lost 5 lbs in the first week! And I consistantly lost weight each month that I have continued. I still continue my 'lifestyle' change to this day, 6 months later. And I have lost a total of 28lbs! This book is life changing if you follow her advice. It includes workout advice as well and the combination really gets results. I have finally lost those last 20 lbs and more. I take care of my dad and he is 71 yrs old and he has been following this 'lifestyle' change as well. He has lost 23 lbs so far. This program is for all ages and not just for women. I have recommended this book to many people. I have so many people asking what I have done and I always say 'you have to get this book'. Iam giving this book to a couple of my family members for Christmas this year. Get this book. It is worth the money. It changed everything for my dad and I. Thank you Dr. Ashton!
I believe in natural products and I have used some of the suggestions in this book. They work great. The sunflower oil for moisturizing the skin is great and using the cleanser and exfoliant, I see a pleasant difference in the feel and appearance of my skin. Very good book. Other helpful information as well.
