He leaned closer to me. "Oh, so you have something against dating white men?"

I leaned back and frowned. "Well... no, that's not what I'm saying. I mean, I've just never dated outside of my race before. That's all."

He raised his eyebrows. "Really? Well, I've never dated inside mine."

I tilted my head to the side. "Really? Never?"

"Really. Never..."

A beautiful romance story for all lovers!  Love is everything it is meant to be in “Your Love is King.” Marli Meadows discovers this when she ignores all boundaries and detour signs that promises to deter any leap for interracial love. It was clear to Chris, a white guy, the first time he’d laid eyes on Marli that he’d stop at nothing to make her the love of his life.  He’d seen and heard just about every negative and positive comment one could imagine regarding interracial relationships, but he refuses to be discouraged. All that matters to him is his heart wants what his heart wants, and his heart wants Marli. “Your Love is King” is a romance filled story with some tongue-in-cheek humor that keeps the story moving fast and you laughing along the way. Chris’s character, for example, is a fine piece of God’s work with the good looks of Justin Timberlake, and Marli’s deadpan humor tickled me rosey-cheeks when she refers to him as a “Justin Timberfake.”  What I found stunning about the story, Marli is a plus-sized girl with self-esteem issues and doesn’t want to openly admit that she doesn’t feel she measures up to some idea woman for Chris. Instead, she pawns him off as a typical player suffering from “jungle fever” and she isn’t going to be another notch on his bedpost.  The beauty of this story, Marli and Chris are no typical odd couple. They compliment each other’s strengths and weaknesses in some creative and unusual ways.  The book is a quick and enjoyable read. It was hard to put down once I got started. If you’re anything like me you want the page-turner, fun read, lovable and memorable characters only a book like “Your Love is King” can offer.  It does not disappoint!

GREAT BOOK!!! At first the main character gets on my nerves with her low self esteem, but you will find out where it all stems from. To have a love like King's love is the best love. Chris really does love her the God wants a man to love a woman!!! I couldn't put the story done....even took it with me to the potty :) ADRIENNE, PLEASE DO A SERIES ON THIS BOOK TOO....PLEASE!!!!! Some people learn to write, while some were born to do so. Adrienne Thompson was born to be a storyteller. She was born to live, observe and craft a multitude of stories that speak to the very soul of readers. This year, I've been introduced to a slew of fascinating authors - Adrienne is at the top of my list. "Your Love Is King" is the second novel of Adrienne's that I've read and, believe you me, it won't be the last. In this soulful novel, I met Marli Meadows. A thirty-something year old woman that doesn't know how to love herself. Marli grew up feeling less than perfect, and believing that she would never deserve true happiness. When true love comes her way, in the form of an unexpected gift by way of Chris King, Marli can't imagine that she could ever be valued or ever be loved. I felt so bad for her and what she had to endure from her parents, namely her father. She's lived a life that enabled people to take advantage of her, because she didn't know her true worth. Marli's is the story of many other women. Even if other women do not live out the specifics of Marli's life, there are several key elements that are clearly outlined. A big part of this journey we call "life" is the struggle taking place in our minds - how we process our experiences and how we allow them to dictate our behaviors. Adrienne's novels allow readers to think about such things. She reaches into your mind, spirit and soul, forcing you to examine yourself. And she does this so very well. She is an exceptional storyteller! I thank Adrienne for sharing her talent with the world and look forward to reading more of her work.
