Overview

You Can Find Freedom From Your Past

Like Jacob, who in the book of Genesis tricked his father into giving him his brother's blessing, we all struggle with our own painful choices. Often our attempts to fix our missteps result in an even more complicated web of destruction. Is it possible to escape the unending tangle of guilt and shame? Is there a better way toward wholeness?

In Your New Identity, Dr. Neil Anderson demonstrates that the two most important beliefs every Christian should possess is knowing who our heavenly Father is and who we are in Christ. This second of eight Victory Series studies will help you understand God's nature and character, and guide you to lay aside former ways and embrace your new life as a child of God. This study, with six sessions, can be used individually or in a group, and includes a leader's guide, along with illustrations and questions for deeper reflection and practical applications.

God is full of grace and mercy; He makes right what we in our fallen nature have made wrong. In Your New Identity, you will discover that, as Jacob learned, an encounter with the living God will change your life . . . forever.

Neil Anderson has long been one of my favorite nonfiction writers. He is biblically solid and backs all his writing with scripture. When a person accepts Christ as their Savior, scripture tells us “. . . , he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 This raises many questions we usually don’t ask, “How do I become new? What is passed away? What else becomes new?” Believers can go through their entire life without really knowing these answers. This book searches deep into finding out. Six chapters cover exactly what is “new” in our lives according to the Bible with 5 lessons for study. This isn’t a read through it and be done book but a work through and learn one. It is filled with lots of scripture references, charts, and questions. I have been a believer for 35 years and it opened my eyes to “new” blessings I did not even consider. You can set your own pace. This would a wonderful personal or group study. It would also make a great book for churches to give their new converts. I received this book free from Bethany Publishing. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have stated are my own.

You Make Me Feel Brand New This volume is a study that explores what it means for an individual to be a Christian, and what type of relationship a believer in Christ has with God.  The is the second book in the eight volume "Victory Series".  However, the entire set does not need to be read in order to enjoy this book, because this work can stand on its own.  The author holds five degrees, and is the founder and president emeritus of Freedom in Christ Ministries.   This volume contains six sections that cover things ranging from how a person's life is different after making a decision to become a Christian, to the names and nature of God.  This book is Biblically based, and very easy to read.  Each chapter is usually just a bit more than one page.  There are questions at the end of each chapter that help the reader think deeper about what was read, and how that applies to their life.   By the time this book is finished, one will have a stronger idea of who God is, and the love He has for us all.  This includes understanding Christ's willingness to die for each one of us, and the untold blessings available as a result. This volume explores guilt, shame and sin, along with the way Christian believers can overcome those feelings, and put in them in the past.   This is a very positive book, full of hope, peace and encouragement for followers of Christ.  It opens the door on the rich full life God wants us to have, and the way to achieve that.  This volume will appeal to a new believer, as well as, a long-time Christian.  I recommend this five-star book to anyone who is interested in knowing how much God adores them.  The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book through Bethany House Publishing for the purpose of review. All opinions expressed are my own, and I have not been compensated in any other manner. Despite my receiving the book free, it has not influenced my judgment, and I have given an honest opinion.

This book is filled with hope in each lesson. Readers can work through it in a group setting, but I found it awesome to use individually as well. It is broken into six sessions, with each session consisting of five readings and fill-in-the-blank response sections. If you use it individually as a devotional, you can complete the book in a month. However, the daily readings are very short and interesting and the questions do not take long to complete, so you can move through it a bit faster, or at your leisure. I thought this was a really great book at encouraging readers to let go of the past and embrace the future as a new creation. Anderson does a great job in describing the grace and mercy of God in ways that are easy to understand and in ways that I have never read before, such as a story about a child who was adopted by a loving Father. It made me look at the ideas and grace and forgiveness in a whole new way. If you struggle with shame or guilt over your past, or if you find it hard to understand the idea of being a new creation in God, this book is awesome. You will walk away with new insight into what it means to be a child of God. This book stays with you, even after you read it. I find myself thinking over some of the ideas Anderson put forth and mulling over how I can apply them daily to my own life. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
