“This excellent book…certainly does make the process from pregnancy to birth (and for the first month or so afterwards) much easier to cope with and understand…The sensitivity and care with which Curtis and Schuler present all information—positive, negative or neutral—remain hallmarks of this fact-packed and thick oversize paperback…Reading it provides much of the assurance of a knowledgeable 24-hour-a-day companion who can take you through the many vicissitudes of pregnancy with a firm and knowing hand. Even women who have been pregnant before will benefit from the information here—and those in their first pregnancies will find the book invaluable.” Sacramento Book Review, February 2012

Okay yes I have to admit I was scared at first but when I found this book it helped alot! I am still nerveous because it is my first pregnancy and well I have never experienced this before. This book is slowly guiding me through this and I am so thankful that I found it. I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and I have been using it since I found out. Good

I think the people that find this book and What to Expect scary are people who would find any medical information scary. Often I can skim or skip sections that do not apply to me, but when something does, the information is helpful. I prefer to be informed. I think the people who have to stop reading out of fear are a bit childish. I do wish the chapters had a little more about the baby each week. Some weeks you get little more than size and weight. I would be interested in more of what is developing that week. Not a perfect book, but helpful and not scary.

Love this book! I feel it's a little more detailed than What to Expect because it goes week by week and explains what you are feeling, along with how the baby is developing. It's also very good to help keep you in check with weight gain. Absolutely worth the money!

I liked the older one better--this one added in a lot heavier medical influence and mentioned a lot of stuff that doesn't fit with my preference for evidence-based care. However, I LOVE the week-by-week description of the baby as s/he grows and normal symptoms, tips for dad, etc. If you avoid the parts that focus on stuff that can go wrong (seriously, don't read that stuff! Ever hear of a self-fulfilling prophesy?), then this is a good book to have in your pregnancy library. Definitely NOT the ONLY one you should own, however!

This book barely give any useful information, each week they are off with the information about the baby. It spends more time talking about things that only have small chance of happening per week. That information should be in a second area of the book and more your baby and you per week. I have found more informations via email from baby websites than this book. DO NOT BUY!!!

Don't waste your money on this book. The organization and editing is terrible, and some of the information is simply false, according to my doctor. If you want week-by-week information, use the internet, and get the Mommydocs Guide to Pregnancy for a general pregnancy guide. It is very current, and well-written.

Waste of 10.00. I can get same information from online for free. This is not worth your time or money.

When I bought this book, I knew that there would be a lot of advise in it that I did not agree with. However, when I read week 28 and the section about home birth I was appalled. Home birth is very safe and these authors make it sound like of you have a home birth, you will be putting your baby's life at risk! They need to do their research and look at the reality that home birth is safer than hospital births, as long as everyone is healthy. Hospitals do so many unnecessary interventions that lead to even more unnecessary interventions and often end in cesarean. I will be deleting this book from my Nook and I will never buy something written by these authors again. Research is critical when you are giving out statistics and trying to scare people.
