Overview

You're My Thrill

Horn is a singer who knows how to take her time. And our patience with her penchant for slower tempos pays off in Horn’s gorgeous renditions of standards (“The Best Is Yet to Come,” “I Got Lost in His Arms, “ “The Very Thought of You “) and not-so-standard material (.”Solitary Moon,” “Rules of the Road, “ “All Night Long “). The oh-so-subtle string arrangements of the legendary Johnny Mandel are the perfect touch on certain tracks; other performances rely on Horn’s piano and a small band. No matter the instrumental configuration, they all shine.

My wife and I have only been listening to jazz for a couple of years now, and overall I suppose we aren't really ''experts'', but we know what we like when we hear it. This CD is fantastic. We discovered ''You're My Thrill'' at a bookstore and purchased it immediately. It's the kind of music that can play in the background during dinner without being obtrusive. You can listen to it in the car to calm your nerves on those long commutes. And it's especially good for creating a relaxed, romantic mood in the evening. If you want classic, uptempo jazz, check out Coletrane. If you want smooth and easy, totally relaxing, this is the one.
