Overview

Yours Truly, Taddy: (The Undergrad Years) (Invitation to Eden) by Avery Aster, Frauke Spanuth

Jetting to Martinique for a modeling assignment with three of Europe's hottest magazine photographers-Gustave, Fabian, and Leon-should've been easy, breezy beautiful. Never did I expect to look up and see a hole in the ceiling of our plane that was bigger in size than my Birkin bag.

Shit! We're nose-diving toward Eden Island. I pictured how my New York Times obituary might read when I'm gone, "Taddy Brill, Manhattanite, dethroned descendant of the Austrian House of Brillford royalty, dies at age eighteen, penniless, unloved, and a virgin." I swear this crap only happens to me. Suddenly, Leon pulls me with Fabian and Gustave. Adrenaline racing through me, our bodies clung as one. We prepared to...crash.

The Undergrad Years is a New Adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.

This story was funny and for the young at heart. That thinks life is over at such a young age. No life is just about like a bowl of cherries full of pits, but oh so delilcious.

You have to like this authors style. It is very specific. The story is insane. The characters are shallow, petty and undeveloped. I have never read this author and based on this book I never will.

This is the second book in this series and focuses on Taddy. Taddy learns that she is now poor. The bank account her parents had set up for has been cleaned out. She has no money pay for her college tuition and is to proud to let anyone pay her way. Lex’s mom has set her up with some help. Taddy is going to do some modeling to pay for college. This is how the book starts. Vive, Blake, and Lex have been with her and are now flying to Bermuda with her for a photo shoot. Throw in 3 hot Frenchmen and you have one hell of an adventure. Taddy is extremely attracted to the Frenchmen but they don’t pay her any mind at all or to any of her friends. I love the characters in this series. Crazy unpredictable things happen to them but all you can do is laugh and keep reading. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series and see what other kinds of trouble they get into. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I don't read a lot of new adult romance, but this one was really good. I enjoyed the characters and the book had the perfect amount of heat. If you enjoy new adult romance novels, I highly recommend this one.

What a fun series. New author for me via another author link by Marian Tee and so glad! Cannot wait to read Blake & Viv's story. Also a tie-in to the Invitation to Eden series which looks amazing!!! I love how Avery has the series set in the "early years, The Undergrad Years" with a the close group of friends (Taddy, Lex, Blake, and Viv) then she fast forwards the readers to their "adult years, The Manhattanites #2 " so that you get a sense of closer (at least that is how I felt) for these intense, drama, passion field, and touching past/present character history for each of theses BFF's. Taddy's next book (Unscrupulous (The Manhattanites #2) ) is just as fast paced, sexy, and humorous.

The Undergrad Years saga continues. This time, it's Taddy's turn. She's beautiful enough to be a model yet despises models with a passion. However, the money is good so she's set aside her personal dislike for non-expressive, waif-thin models and takes gigs to pay for college. The fact that she works with a bunch of hot guys is a small added bonus, even if those hot guys seem to look down their noses at her. Only at first. It takes a plane ride gone wrong for her to see them differently. It begins with Taddy and Leon sharing a moment in the middle of the ocean after their plane crashes, then moves onto Taddy, Leon, and Fabian after they're reunited on Eden. What transpires next is solely up to Taddy, but turning down the offer of a lifetime would prevent her dreams from coming true. Fast-paced, humorous, and sexy, Taddy doesn't disappoint as the second book in this series. ***Received from Xpresso Book Tours for an honest review***

Taddy has just learnt that after emancipating herself from her parents, they drained her trust, leaving her completely broke with no way of paying for her college tuition.  Thankfully, Taddy has the love and support of her BFF's mother, Birdie who lands her a modelling gig where the four-some board a plane with three of Europes hottest men, destination, Martinique. The four-some haven't had much luck, and that doesn't change here when their plan crashes, flinging Taddy into the ocean without her friends. But she wasn't alone.  Leon, one of the hunky men from the flight sat with her on a piece of the plane.  Nothing could have prepared Taddy for the events that come after this.  Fearing she'd never make it out of the ocean alive, Taddy throws her trust, hope , and the "Lady V"  to Leon, in hopes they will reach Eden and their friends again. As always, Avery steams up the pages with her hot sex scenes, fresh in your face characters and endless snort-inducing giggles.

Yours Truly, Taddy (The Undergrad Years) New Adult Romance (Invitation to Eden) by Avery Aster caught my interest because it is part of the Invitation to Eden series. Most of the story happens in the water trying to get to the island after a bizarre plane accident?????. I must say a most unusual story line. I won’t give any spoilers but will say the getting to land was very interesting, not at all believable but very entertaining.  Taddy is a survivor in life. I think she could have turned out like Scrooge with her boarding school/ family history. However, she is resourceful and still a bit naïve. I liked that about her. The writing is witty, with the dialogue on the cutting side, but plenty funny. I’m not sure this story could have been pulled off as well by any other writer. My hat is off to Avery Astor and her Manhattanites!

The fun continues with Avery Aster's fabulous besties, Taddy, Lex, Vive and Blake from Undressed and Unscrupulous in YOURS TRULY, TADDY. Even at eighteen they are the most loyal friends you'd ever want to have!   TADDY finds herself a week before their first day of college at Columbia without tuition or living expenses for the school year. She has a chance to make a cool hundred grand doing a modeling gig with one of France's most famous photographer's and his team on the exotic island of Martinique. Even though she hates modeling and is uncomfortable in front of the camera, she sets off on the adventure of a lifetime with her friends in tow. The gang, and especially Taddy, get more than even their wild imaginations could have expected! Gorgeous Frenchmen, unexpected landings, sexy times, a luscious resort in the middle of paradise, witty dialogue and loveable characters all kept me caught up in Taddy's story from start to finish!   I couldn't wait for Yours Truly, Taddy to come out and Ms. Aster did not disappoint!! Now I'm waiting on the next adventure in the gang's Undergrad Years! 4 stars ~Complimentary copy provided by author in exchange for a honest review.

Great Follow Up To Love, Lex I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way. This second book in the Undergrad Years Series also has a title for each chapter, which will be good for the reader if they are looking for the perfect stopping point. And just like the first book, this is told in the first person and it feels as if Taddy is talking directly to the reader.  Tabitha Adelaide “Taddy Brill” Brillford is on her way to a modeling job and her friends are there with her. This author has a very creative mind that you will understand when Taddy goes on assignment. She also has an interesting title to one of the chapters that if you are of a certain age you will recognize the reference.  Avery created a character that just doesn’t seem to be able to cut a break – and how many of us at times feel the same way. But she makes the reader laugh at her trials and tribulations. Leon Lartigue was there when Taddy needed someone the most. This book is an island fantasy come to life and it includes French men. If you like to set the mood for when you read, why not sit with a nice tropical drink. And since summer is upon us, why not sit at a beach looking out over the water. It’s a great way to destress.  One thing I loved about this book was the ending. Our author left it so that you have no choice but to read the follow up to this book. So if you haven’t read the Manhattanites Series, you will want to read Unscrupulous – can’t wait. #Undergrad Years, #New Adult

The sequel to Love, Lex, Yours Truly, Taddy continues the story of Taddy Brill, Blake Morgan, and Vive Farnworth. Adding new characters to the tight group of friends, Taddy is on her way to a lucrative photo shoot that she was reluctant to take, but the payoff will fix all her financial problems. Still a virgin, she's undeniably attracted to the mysterious men who are her photo shoot team. Confused by her attraction to multiple men at the same time, she's resigned to die a virgin, but fate has other plans. Plans she is NOT on board with at all. As their plane crashes toward the open water her short and mostly uneventful life flashes before her eyes, but that is about to change. 24 hours later she's alive, confused and pissed as hell. While lucky to be alive, her problems have doubled and she can barely comprehend the changes the last day has made. Written in the sharp and modern tone that Avery Aster is known for, Yours Truly, Taddy is a sexy adventure that is an edgy addition to the popular Invitation to Eden series; a set of loosely connected stories that take place on the mysterious Island to Eden. While this book can be read as a stand alone, reading Love, Lex prior to this story will enhance the reading experience and offers insight into the characters backstory. With an ending that left me wanting to know more, I'm looking forward to the release of XO, Blake in July, 2014! A copy of Yours Truly, Taddy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Marie's Tempting Reads Review: OMG! This book was a hilarious, fun, sexy YA romance. I ADORED Yours Truly, Taddy. I giggled, I sighed, I shook my head in wonder. I really liked Taddy. I thought she was fun, smart, sassy, and just a brilliant character. We also have some delicious eye candy for her. Gustave, Fabian, and Leon. *Sigh* What truly yummy names! I liked each of these men for different reasons and couldn't picture the book without these sexy photographers. I felt like everything flowed nicely in Yours, Truly Taddy and I definitely think this was really well thought out and well written. It was freaking HOT and AWESOME that Fabian and Leon are bisexual. I didn't see that coming and it just made the story that much more...YUMMY. For these reasons, I give this book an astounding FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS! Its a truly irresistible book and just one of my favorites from Avery Aster. If you haven't picked this up, then your missing out!

Yours Truly, Taddy is another fabulous instalment in the Undergrad Years by Avery Aster. I absolutely love the fun banter and the loyalty between the four friends. I thought Lady V was a glamorous way of putting virginity and now that is the only way I can think of it. ¿ Tabitha Adelaide Brillford or Taddy Brill to everyday people is an eighteen year old with many complications in her life. Her friends think of her as a 6’ tall glamazon that has the makings of a supermodel. But as Taddy graduated top of her class and is ready to enter the world of college, she isn’t just beautiful but brilliant. If Taddy wants to attend college though, her only option is to model. It seems that when Taddy was thirteen and dropped off at Avon Porter Academy, her parents’ never wanted to see her again and that meant her funds were non-existent. The opportunity to travel to the Caribbean and be photographed by one of the best couldn’t be turned down. In Taddy’s entourage are her besties, Blake, Vive and Lex; they came along to help support Taddy and enjoy their summer before college starts. So here they were, sitting in a smallish plane on their way to the Caribbean with the photography crew in front and the only thing the four friends can think about is how incredibly hot the crew all are and whether they are interested in men or women. All of a sudden Taddy spots a tear in the ceiling of the plane and everything turns into disarray. When Taddy wakes, she is lying on debris in the ocean with Leon, their set designer. Obviously nothing went to plan. Will Leon open up to Taddy now they are the only ones floating in the ocean? What happened to the others? Will Taddy die without losing her Lady V? Will Taddy be able to attend college? I don’t want to give away any of the fun that Taddy has, so you will just have to pick up the series and follow their entertaining lives and the interesting ways they copulate. Taddy is certainly my favourite character and seems to be the glue between the four friends. I cannot wait to read more by Ms Aster, whether it’s from the Manhattanite’s or the Undergrad Years series, I love them both.

I loved and enjoyed reading the humorous, awesome, hot, and steamy story that I received through Goodreads First Reads written by the amazing, talented author Avery Aster. In order to pay for her college tuition, Taddy Brill is bringing her three best friends, Viv, Lex, and Blake, with her to her modeling gig.  While flying to their destination, Taddy and her BFF's cannot take their eyes off of the sexier than sin men on the plane.  Gustave is the boss and head photographer, Fabian is the make up artist, and the "hunkiest" Leon handles the equipment and lighting.  As Taddy's plane flies over the Bermuda Triangle with her best friends the sexiest men ever, the plane crashes into the Atlantic Ocean near the mysterious Eden Island.  Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, entertaining & engaging story.  Can't wait to read and find out who Taddy's Mr. Right ends up being.

I was lucky enough to win a paperback of this book, and I am very grateful as I have found a new author to follow: I would recommend that you read book 1 first which is Lex Love, Lex In thia book we get to travel along with Taddy who is Jetting to Martinique for a modeling assignment with three of Europe’s hottest magazine photographers—Gustave, Fabian, and Leon— and of course Taddy's Besties Lex,Vive and Blake.  This new series which is ...The Undergrad Years is a New Adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.  If you love the TV series Sex in the City then you will love Avery Aster's books, Seriously, I had another book I was reading but it got left on the kindle a little bit longer because after opening my post and reading the first few pages, I grabbed a copy of the first book Love,Lex and when I finished it, I just had to pick up my new shiny paperback and continue. The beginning just had me in stitches... and that's funny since its basically a plane crash! As you will read in the Synopsis:  ...Shit! We’re nose-diving toward Eden Island. I pictured how my New York Times obituary might read when I’m gone, “Taddy Brill, Manhattanite, dethroned descendant of the Austrian House of Brillford royalty, dies at age eighteen, penniless, unloved, and a virgin.” I swear this crap only happens to me. Suddenly, Leon pulls me with Fabian and Gustave. Adrenaline racing through me, our bodies clung as one. We prepared to…crash. In this book you find out more of Taddy's past, how she became emancipated from her parents, boy they deserved to be jailed for the way she was treated, thank goodness for her friends...But Taddy is a survivor and that helps in the predicament she ends up in with this installment of the series. The sex scenes are well written and they are quite hot and steamy.  These books are ideal for a holiday read, or a quick pick me up read. It was raining the weekend I read these and I snuggled under a blanket with a cup of tea and lost myself in these books. I look forward to reading the others and Avery Aster's The Manhattanites series and I hope my spoiler free review helps you choose this series to be your next book choice :D PS - this book does contain raunchy sex scenes so its 18+

Boy was this book one crazy journey, literally for Taddy, her best friends, and three hot Frenchmen.  I read this book very quickly.  I was hooked from the first page.  I envied Taddy for being on her way to the Caribbean with her pals and then the next thing I knew the plane is coming apart and I was no longer jealous. There were some interesting twists I might have seen coming if I was paying better attention, but they took me by surprise and I enjoyed them once I stopped mentally cursing and screaming.  Once again the gang got up to some shenanigans and most of them were enjoyable. I did feel for Taddy and the way some things went down for her. Avery Aster has written another entertaining episode featuring one of the Manhattanites.  I expected a fabulous story and I got one that was but a little short. I wanted to know more about the Frenchmen and what happened after.  I know Avery's got stories planned for Blake and Vive but I'd like more of this one.

**3.5 Stars** I think The Undergrad Years series, and Ms. Aster's Manhattanites series, are the kind that people either like or don't. I fall into the 'like' category. And here's why...years ago, when my kids were younger, a group of friends and I would go away on scrapbooking weekends. On these weekends, one of us would bring DVDs of Sex in the City, and we'd have SitC marathons while we scrapbooked. This is where I was introduced to this completely foreign and outrageously outlandish lifestyle. The Undergrad Years and The Manhattanites series read like episodes of Sex in the City. They are salacious, outlandish, and fun. Are they fine literary works? No. But entertaining? Definitely. Yours Truly, Taddy was quite an adventure. Taddy learned a few things about herself. And, as always, we got to see how tight the bonds between this foursome, Taddy, Lex, Vive, and Blake, are. Having read Unscrupulous, I had a familiarity with Taddy's life. I really enjoyed this view into the moment in time where Taddy finally gave herself permission to embrace who she was and earn the money she'd eventually use for her future. Taddy is the definition of a survivor. While she and her friends have all endured things no kid should, Taddy had it hardest, in my opinion. Having your parents do what Taddy's did...well, it takes a strong person to survive that. But Taddy figured out what she needed to do and did it. In Yours Truly, Taddy, she faces another situation where she has to dig deep to determine her mettle. Are the circumstances a bit far-fetched? Yep. But for me, this is a rollicking good time. Obviously, I have an affinity for Taddy. And I'm relishing these glimpses of this foursome prior to their adult lives. I love getting these peeks at events that shaped the adults they became. Ms. Aster knows how to spin a good story. Taddy's has a more mature feel to it but it's just as entertaining. I'm anxious for the next installment, which is Blake's story. *I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.*

If you are familiar with Avery Aster's The Manhattanites, you will definitely enjoy this novella. She uses off the wall scenarios to amuse and at the same time give you an insight into her characters' inner soul and demons. These three young women and their Gay Best Friend Blake, have gone through a lot together. One for all and all for one are not just words to them. They have even spent time in juvie together! In this novella, we mainly deal with Taddy's problems with dealing with her monetary problems and of course the fact that she is still a virgin. All I can say if this Eden existed anywhere, I would be the first one to book a stay!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I’ll start right off by saying that this second installment of The Undergrad Years series was much better than the first (Love, Lex)-my overall star rating for this one is a 3.5. The characters seemed much more mature and more in line with their ages this time around. Taddy’s character is a lot more grounded than Lex and Vive, mostly due to her family and financial situation in comparison to her friends. The writing flowed better this time and the situations were much more believable. The encounter Taddy and Leon had in the water seemed a bit unlikely given their circumstances (*mild spoiler*-I mean seriously-who is really going to become intimate while on a rest break trying to swim several miles to find shore?), but other than that the rest of the story is good and keeps you interested. You also get to see some character growth with Taddy thanks to the events that occur. One thing this volume of the series did was intrigue me even more for Blake’s story. He still seems to be the most interesting of the four friends and I’ll continue with this series if for no other reason than to hear his tale. Still for the 18 and over crowd due to the adult scenes. If you liked the first book, then you’ll certainly like Yours Truly, Taddy.
