Z is for Zamboni: A Hockey Alphabet by Matt Napier, Melanie Rose

In the mold of our very popular series of state alphabet books, we offer Z is for Zamboni to hockey fans young and old across North America. Matt Napier's "breakaway" rhymes and "hard-checking" expository text team up with the "top-shelf" illustrations of Melanie Rose to elucidate this increasingly popular game for every beginning hockey aficionado. Highlighting rules, players, coaches, teams, and the history of the game, it is both fun and educational.

I bought this for my 2nd grader. He loves the Zamboni. I love how this series takes each letter of the alphabet to give you 'fun facts' about a particular subject. This series is all about hockey & my husband was also thrilled to see some of his favorite players in here.

With its verses for younger children and more in depth information for older children (and parents), it is a wonderful book for all ages. The illustrations are also beautifully done.

One of the Amerks AHL players read this book to my son at the local library. We all loved it. We are a big hockey family, so I had to buy it right away. I also bought it for all the new little ones in our family.

I found this book when I was on vacation in Canada and had to have it. My 2 year old loves it and we read it almost daily. It's great for kids with the simple rhymes and there's stuff for the grown-ups too with the info in the side bars. The illustrations are great. The illustrator also did the pictures in M is for Maple: A Canadian Alphabet. It was great too. Sleeping Bear Press is putting out a whole series of number and letter books for states and I can't wait to own them all. Enjoy!
