Known for her lyrical prose and engagement with Christian theology, Marilynne Robinson’s fiction and nonfiction books tackle important moral questions. She was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her first novel, Housekeeping, and won the award for Gilead, the first book in her trilogy set in Gilead, Iowa. In 2012, President Obama presented Robinson with the National Humanities Medal for her work.
