The Moomins have been loved by children since Tove Jansson's first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood, was published in 1945. Although the books were written in Swedish, they were originally published in Finland. The Moomins also appeared as a comic strip of the children’s section of a Swedish language newspaper. Some of the Moomin books are recommended for kids between 5 to 12 years old while others have a suggested reading age of 9 and up. Children all over the world also got to enjoy the unusual, whimsical adventures of the Moomins when the books were later turned into a television cartoon.
