Overview

Wanting her isn't smart, seducing her is inevitable, but falling in love with her could be downright deadly for both of them.

A Little Harmless Fascination
Harmless Book 7

Security expert Conner Dillon isn’t a man who often takes a vacation. So when he is ordered to take a month off, and his sister insists on a trip to Hawaii, he isn’t very happy. But, after seeing his landlady Jillian Sawyer again, he might just find something—or someone—to occupy his time.

For years, Jillian has always had a crush on Conner. Now an erotic romance author with a thing for Doms, she finds herself beyond intrigued by the man. He is good to the core, but there is something else darker in him that calls to her.

After one night in bed, they both find themselves addicted. In Jillian, Conner has found the perfect sub…and in him she finds someone she can trust. Falling in love isn’t what they expected, but walking away is impossible—especially when they realize someone wants Jillian dead.

WARNING this book contains the following: An uptight security expert who prefers schedules, a romance writer who does not, tattoos, a trip to the Aloha Swap Meet, two hunky neighbors who irritate our hero, and of course this would not be a Harmless book without a trip to Rough 'n Ready. Ice is recommended as any Harmless Addict will tell you, but the author takes no responsibility if a reader should become overheated. Read at your own risk.

BONUS MATERIAL:Includes the entire first chapter of Melissa's upcoming historical vampire release By Blood: Desire and excerpts from fellow indy authors Kris Cook and Lexi Blake.

A Little Harmless Fascination is an Interracial erotic romance with BDSM elements and light suspense. It is the seventh book of the series that can be read alone. It is 63,000 words and include 11,000 word excerpt of Desire.

EXCERPT:
"Yeah, I kind of do want to know where else you're pierced."
She smiled up at him and he could tell she was going to brush him off. The Dom in him was already beating his way out. He had lain dormant for months but with Jillian around, those dominant tendencies were surfacing again.
She patted his cheek. "I only share that with intimate friends."
Jillian turned to leave but he grabbed her arm again.
"Don't mess with me, Jillian. I don't like it, not that way."
Her eyes narrowed as she looked down at his hand on her upper arm.
"If you're not interested, just say leave me the **** alone, Conner."
He waited, holding his breath. He hadn't meant to challenge her, hadn't known this was so important right now. It was. More than he had ever expected, it was beyond that now. Why this woman, right now, he had no idea. But the need he had building in him was starting to take over any sane thought he had. He knew right now if he didn’t have her soon, there was a good chance he might just go a little insane. If she said to **** off, he would be screwed.
When she didn’t say anything, Conner let loose the breath and nodded. "Good, then we understand each other. Just know that when I ask you that question again, I will expect an answer."

    You'll love it!!

A Little Harmless Fascination is the seventh book in Harmless series by Melissa Schroeder and it’s a strong showing in this delicious series. Conner Dillon is a Dom who doesn’t realize how much he needs a sub, pair that with Jillian, a sub who doesn’t know if she can handle a Dom and it’s a delicious thrill ride. This book was hot and kept you guessing the whole time. If you haven’t read any of the Harmless books, just dive in and fall in love. I can’t wait for the next installment, each book just keeps getting better and better.

Security expert and former FBI Agent Conner Dillon is in the hospital suffering from chest pains ~ the result of being a complete workaholic. Doctor's orders: A month of rest and relaxation away from the stresses of his job!! Connors' sister, Maura, nags him into going to Hawaii for that rest. Her best friend and former college roommate, Jillian, owns a home on Oahu and rents out the upper floor to tourists occasionally. Jillian is a writer of erotic books. She is free-spirited with tattoos and piercings ~ the polar opposite of Conner.

Conner rents the upper floor of Jillian's home and she resides on the floor below ~ close enough to get their imaginations running wild. Jillian has had a crush on Conner since college and knows he is a Dom. Even though interested in him, she is unsure if she could ever give complete control to anyone, as she has major trust issues and lots of family problems. Conner is afraid to approach her romantically knowing she is his sister's best friend and the last thing he wants to do is ruin that friendship if things go badly.

Hawaii is the perfect 'garden of Eden' for these two characters and you can just imagine the surrounding beauty as Melissa Schroeder writes out Conner and Jillian's story. Their story also has a bit of mystery, as Jillian's life if being threatened and Conner must find out who before he loses Jillian.

Melissa Schroeder has, once again, written a well thought out, hotly romantic, and suspenseful read. When you can read a book cover to cover in one sitting ~ that is a good book!!!

    Highly Recommend!

Melissa Schroeder has once again written a fantastic story in the Harmless series. I admit I’m a little addicted to this series and eagerly await each installment. Not only because I can’t wait for the “new” story but because I know Melissa will also “check in” with previous characters which makes the stories all the more fascinating to me!

This book opens with Conner Dillon (who we met previously in A Little Harmless Lie) lying in a hospital bed following some chest pains. His sister Maura, along with his business partner, and his doctor insist that he needs a vacation and some relaxation. Maura arranges for him to rent a place from her ex college roommate and best friend, Jillian Sawyer. Jillian has always been attracted to Conner but she knows she will never get involved with him because of her friendship with Maura.

Conner is and ex-FBI agent and part owner of a security business. He’s a workaholic who doesn’t take time for himself, relationships (other than with his sister), or any thing fun. He’s strong, capable, and a Dom. He also knows he’s going to have a hard time keeping his naughty thoughts about Jillian from becoming a reality.

Jillian…..I can’t help but wonder if Melissa was channeling her own self here. Jillian is an erotic romance author who loves to write and enjoys the research aspect of her job. She’s tattooed and pierced and wears dreads. (Okay, maybe that’s not Melissa!) Her mixed heritage leads to her interesting good looks. She has distanced herself from what she refers to as her “crazy family”. She lives a fairly antisocial life although she remains in contact with Maura and has immersed herself in the Hawaiian culture.

Jillian feels somewhat responsible for Conner since she has promised Maura that she will “look after” him. They spend quite a bit of time visiting the local sites and enjoying each others company. Conner also meets up with old friends at Rough & Ready (the local BDSM club) and while there discovers that Jillian is there “doing research”. Conner doesn’t like the attention Jillian has garnered at the club and his dominate and very bossy personality comes to light. Jillian pretty much tells Conner she knows he’s a Dom. Things heat up and they fall into a relationship. While there are elements of BDSM in this book, it’s not quite as heavy or as much as some of the other books and there is no “public” play. Everything they do is in private.

Soon Jillian finds herself receiving threats. Conner and his local buddies try to figure out where the threat is coming from and Conner finds himself caring way more than he intended to for Jillian. Jillian flat out tells Conner she loves him which of course freaks him out a bit. Eventually things come to a head and they stop being stubborn and work their way towards being happy together.

It’s just so hard not to like these books. The great Hawaii setting, the wonderful cast of current and past characters whose lives all seem to overlap, the snappy dialog, and the hotter than hot sex scenes mixed with some BDSM elements makes this a must read offering from Melissa Schroeder. If you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend it. Start from the beginning you won’t be sorry and make sure you check out the “shorts” that Melissa regularly releases. I love the “shorts” as they give us even more insight into the characters we’ve grown to know and love!

This series just seems to get better with each installment.
Conner Dillon is ex-FBI, and has opened his own security firm. Working non-stop makes Conner a victim of stress that lands him in the hospital. His Doctor and sister Maura, insist that he take a month of long overdue vacation and do nothing job related.
Jillian Sawyer is Maura best friend from college, living in Hawaii away from her crazed family and enjoying her life writing erotic romance.
Maura enlists Jillian's help in getting Conner settled in and relaxed in Hawaii by becoming his landlady. Sparks seem to fly immediately as they meet after not seeing each other for years. Jillian's secret crush since her days in college has ignited again. Conner can't believe that Jillian is flirting with him. Jillian knows that Conner is a Dom; she's hopeful that she'll be his Sub. Conner knows Jillian doesn't trust easily and he knows that there is something between them, but he stubbornly ignores it. Then everything changes when Jillian is threatened and her life could be in danger.
This book is a page turner. I especially like that we get to catch up on the lives of the couples we've met in previous Harmless stories. It just gets better and better. Be sure to have a cold drink, a ceiling or hand fan available and good lighting as you'll want to finish this story in one sitting!

This is a well thought out, romantic, suspenseful, smoking hot read.

A Little Harmless Fascination (Harmless 7) by Melissa Schroeder
We meet security expert Conner Dillon in a hospital suffering from chest pain. Conner is in his late 30’s. He is a former FBI agent now building a security company with his best friend Zeke. He is a total workaholic. The doctor orders a month off and Connors’ sister convinces him to go to Hawaii where he can learn to relax and stay in the apartment her former college roomie rents out.
Jillian is an erotic author with family issues. With her braids, tattoos and piercings she looks like the opposite of uptight, bossy Connor. But in reality she has just as much stress in her life. Attitude is everything.
Connor isn’t happy to be on forced vacation but when he sees Jillian he thinks it might not be so bad after all. Jillian has had a crush on Connor since college. After scratching the itch they find once is not enough. Top it off with a threat to Jillian and Hawaii gets even hotter.
I get a kick out of this series. I was tickled to catch up with several of the characters of the previous books in this one. Connor is a Dom but he is also really bossy. It is done with a good heart but he is bossy anyway. It is going to take someone as well centered as Jillian to put up with and deal with him. I really liked Jillian. I think it would take someone with history, like Connor, to help her get over her trust issues. This is a well thought out, romantic, suspenseful, smoking hot read.

From the beginng of the book, you can feel the connection between Conner and Jessica. Every time they came together, you could feel their love growing. Conner refused to believe he couldn't live without Jessica, but when he thought he would lose her, there was nothing that would ever keep them apart. Such a good book. Can't wait to read more of the Harmless books.

    My Review:
An erotica writer and an uptight, overworked security expert....um, yes! I really liked the H/h combo in this book. Be sure to read the story overview, because no one writes better story blurbs than Mel...much better than any overview I could give you of the story in this book. Which means I can get right to the review portion.

I love that Jillian is an erotica writer in this book. She's an erotica writer with the most messed up family situation ever. As a result, she moved to the islands and never let any of them know where she lives. In fact, few people know where she lives, but her college roommate Maura is one of those few. So when Maura's older brother, Conner, has an attack brought on by high stress and too long of working hours, she sends him to Jillian to rest and recuperate.

I love how high strung Conner is..this is a guy who is Alpha and Dom all the way, but there's a certain vulnerability to him when he first arrives because he's so exhausted. It definitely made my heart go pitter-pat. I also love how he gets so thrown off his game by his feelings for Jillian. You have to love a guy who can completely lose all those Alpha genes in the face of a gorgeous woman. The level of caring is gorgeous.

Of course, this is a Harmless book set in Hawaii, so it has all that gorgeous Hawaiian ambiance as well as the standard trip to Rough 'n Ready and cameos from a lot of the other beloved Harmless couples...and their kids. I love that this crew is getting so big. I also love the glimpses we get to see of a few future Heroes...this series is definitely not going anywhere soon because there are some yummy hunks coming up...YUM!

There was a lot happening in this book, but it was still really hot and sexy. There's even a suspense story line interwoven throughout...I would have liked the tension there to have been ratcheted up a notch or two, but it was still done pretty well. Overall, it was an enjoyable book.

    So bored!!!

I'm on page 116 and cant get through this book!!! I havent read any of the other books and maybe that is the problem. I just dont find the writing to be great either. I'm so sick if hearing the word "dom" described for every man, especially when I'm not sure of het definition of the word. I may try to read it again when I have absolutely nothing else to do or read. Save your money and don't buy this book!!

    Sexy book!

I enjoyed this book a lot. I always enjoy how polar opposites can be so attracted to each other - and I'm not speaking about skin color but just over all personalities. This book was very sexy - I loved the slow burn of their attraction and I SOOOOO loved that the lead male was a Dom which is uber sexy to me!!!! Mix in some serious drama with hot love scenes and you've got yourself one good read! Very glad I bought this book.

I lost interest almost immediately, but kept reading for about 60 page (since it was a very long book) to give it a fair shot. It just meandered and wilted. Yes, it did have some currently necessary dominate/submissive sex scenes, but nothing else to build on that made me care about these characters.
