Overview

At Ever After High, everyone is expected to sign the Storybook of Legends, pledging to follow in their fairytale parent's footsteps. But when Raven Queen came along, things became fairy, fairy confusing. Now no one's destiny is certain, not even for the most royal of them all, Apple White.

When a mysterious being from Wonderland begins to infect Ever After High with a strange magic, everything goes topsy-turvy. The students transform into animals and objects, palace mice talk, and the beautiful green grounds on campus fade to black-and-white. Lizzie Hearts, Wonderland's future queen, Cedar Wood, daughter of Pinocchio, and Madeline Hatter, heir to the Mad Hatter's Hat and Tea Shoppe, seem to be the only ones who haven't completely lost their heads. It's up to them to save their best friends forever after from a curse that threatens to give their school-and their lives-a very unhappy ending.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Praise for Ever After High: Storybook of Legends:"

What's a girl to do when her mother is the fairy-tale world's worst evil queen? Follow in her footsteps? Never!

At the beginning of this series opener, it's the first day of school at Ever After High, where the offspring of famous fairy-tale characters begin their second year. For these students, Legacy Day beckons, at which time each will sign the Storybook of Legends and take the pledge to replay their parents' roles. Once they ink their names, the stories they spring from will be safely preserved, but if one does not, rumors have it that the tale-as well as the student-will vanish in a posthaste "poof." Most are all aflutter to fulfill their requisite destinies, but Raven Queen, the daughter of the exquisitely wicked Evil Queen, doesn't have an evil bone in her body. If she signs, she is duty-bound to poison Apple White (Snow's daughter), but she wants to create her own future. When Raven discovers that two fairy-tale sisters long ago broke their pledge, she enlists the sleuthing skills of her wacky roommate, Madeline (as in Hatter), and Apple herself to unravel the sisters' ultimate fate. Hale has created a delightfully revamped, newly fashioned cast of fairy-tale characters (and in hipper clothes no less-unsurprising, as the book introduces a new line of Mattel dolls) and gives readers a terrific protagonist to root for. Magic and humor abound, and fairy-tale wordplay flies.

Royal good fun."

First of all, the reviews that say "uneccesary violence" are wrong. Have you never read the Hunger Games? This book is a jewel. The best in the series, the other books seemed to lack something special and this one brought it. The characters have never been better, and though Raven and Apple are not the main characters it was good. My fav book in the series. Anyone who doesn't say so is wrong. My fav character is Maddie (duh) and I'm such a rebel. This book is amazing. Have you ever watched America's got Talent? And you see this act that just blows your mind? And your at such a loss for words all you can say is OMG! over and over again? That's what this book is like. Read it, you'll thank me.

I loved this story and here's the thing I'm a guy and am in my early 20's. I found this series randomly browsing and was immediately drawn to it.  This series is geared towards little girls maybe ages 8-12 but I find myself applauding this author. She also wrote the Monster High series and before they turned it into a toy line to exploit . That's business for you and was a smart move; the books like this series provided interesting situations for characters to face b/c of the world the books take place in. This series focuses on the idea of  the children of Fairy Tale characters growing up to fulfill the roles of their parents and carry on the story, and deviating from their destines is heavily frowned upon. Granted it's for a good reason, but while the princes and princesses look forward to happily ever afters the children of Evil characters don't and already know what to look forward to. So they don't like theirr fates and are determined to change them. That's heavy stuff, and not something to be taken lightly. The conflict in this book for example is 2 fold Cedar daughter of Pinocchio becomes real and now struggles to find out who she is without being under any enchantments that compel her to care about others or tell the truth. The second conflict is with Lizzy Hearts daughter of the Queen of Hearts. She wants to be cold and superior like her mother but is thrown into a situation where she has to work with others. Now she is conflicted b/c she is making friends in her own way and is struggling with accepting these new emotions and still trying to hold on to the image her mother expects of her. Ala in all a surprisingly deep and character driven story with some hilarious dialogue and similar situations. I don't regret reading this series and eagerly look forward to the next book.

I was expecting a book for younger children (like the TV show), but the book uses "big" words and is very entertaining. I love how Lizzie Heart has a deck of card with sayings from her mother on them (my favorite is the Rug one!). But the whole concept of Ever After High is unique. My two favorite charcters are Briar and Madeline Hatter. Briar because l feel like she resembles many teens (lot of sleeping, and a dresser-upper). Maddie because we share a name! And her whole attitude is fun and pleasant (she makes a good narrator.) So in all, l reccomend this book highly!

Wow! Out of all the books I enjoy, Ever After High: Wonderlandiful World is definitely my favorite. The book is about Madeline Hatter, who wants to get rid of the Wonderland Jabberwock but, the vorpal sword was in Wonderland and all the portals to Wonderland were sealed. So, Madeline draws the vorpal sword and brings it to life with magic. Then, Madeline uses the sword to defeat the Jabberwock and all is restored. There are many reasons why I'm delighted by this book. It's mysterious, it's adventurous, and it gets my attention. Ever After High: Wonderlandiful World is mysterious for many reasons. One of them is because there are things that happen and people don't know why. For example, Cedar Wood turns into a real person but, she's supposed to be made out of wood, the Wonderlandians start being reasonable, and the narrator gets sick! It is adventurous because the school comes to life, the Wonderlandians must fight the Wonderland Jabberwock, and the Jabberwock turns everything in Ever After mad!Ever After High: Wonderlandiful World grabs my attention and then, I don't want to stop reading. I love how the book gives me descriptions because it has no pictures so, it gives me an idea of what's happening. I also admire how the author puts in a lot of adventure and mystery. The reason I most like Ever After High: Wonderlandiful World is because they put in little chapters where Madeline annoys the narrator. I recommend this book to people who like reading long books, adventure, and mystery because this book was more than twenty chapters and there's a lot of excitement  and mystery in this book. *4th grade student

This is a great book! It's not exactly like the movie series on Netflix though. This is about Raven Queen, a girl who doesn't want to follow her mother, the Evil Queen's evil footsteps. She is going to, as I would put it, 'rebel'.
