I was completely drawn into this book right from the beginning. Ren’s mother’s dying words were for to find her father that left them when she was 5. At first she didn’t want to but eventually did with a huge chip on her shoulder. Ren has lived her whole life taking care of her sick mother and now that her mother has pasted she has no idea what to do with herself. She didn’t know what to expect when she went to her father but it wasn’t what she got. Her father has a new family that he hasn’t told about his old one. She has a half-sister who is only a year younger than her named Monica. Monica hates Ren and wants her gone. Her father owns a gym named Beat and trains MMA fighters. With nothing else to do see begins using the gym and taking all the classes that they offer that she can. Fighting helps her deal with all her anger and emotions. Then Ashley Fuller comes back; he was the gyms golden boy till about 4 years ago. He was banned from the league for unknown reasons. Ren wants to hate Ash because of his attitude but she is immensely attracted to him. Monica is all over Ash whenever possible. Ren hates that once again she is invisible and is alone again. Little does Ren know that Ash likes her more than he has ever liked anyone. His own past is stopping from pursuing anything with Ren. He believes Ren deserves someone who isn’t a messed up beast. He fights his feeling for Ren until he just can’t anymore. He feels so selfish for pursuing anything with her. He is keeping all kinds of secrets from her and won’t really let her in but can’t let her go either. Ash shows Ren the underground illegal fights he participates in. Once Ren sees the underground all she wants to do is participate. Ash wants to protect her from the underground and fears that they will use her to get to him. Will Ash just be another person to leave Ren? Will Ash be able to protect Ren? I loved this book and the characters. Both Ren and Ash have been through so much. There broken edges fit and they love each other. But, Ash fears his broken edges will hurt Ren more than help her heal. Amity writes a great book. All the characters are fantastic. I wish I could jump in the story and be friends with them. Ren is so strong she never stops fighting. Her life has never been easy and it doesn’t look like is going to get easier anytime soon. Her and Ash’s love maybe unconventional but it works for them. I love Josie and the twins as well. Josie is kind of crazy and outgoing. The twins are always there for Ren no matter what. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series to see what happens next. Fantastic job Amity Cross. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

4 star This is Renee’s “Ren” story. Renee’s father left her and her mother. Life has been tough for her and her mother. Her mother lost her battle with cancer but stated she wanted Ren to go to her father. She goes to him but she is oh so angry. Ash is the boy who had it all but managed to throw it away. With them both having so much anger in is it safe for them to be together? Can they heal each other or will they manage to destroy each other? When the anger get the better of them will they destroy themselves or also those around them? What happens when the people who are out to get Ash turn onto Ren? But in the end will one have to sacrifice for the other? I recommend this book.

I couldn't stop reading this book. It was captivating right from the beginning. Very steamy and graphic, so if you're not into that you may want to pass. I cannot wait for the next book to release.

This is an incredible start to this series. The chemistry between Ash and Renee was HOT! The action and suspense was intense. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a sexy alpha hero and a tough as nails heroine. I love this book and I'm anxiously waiting for Pulse.
