Some scars cut right to the heart.

Three years after her divorce, Chaili Bennett is over her ex. Her only problem now? Of the few men she’s dated since, no one “gets” her. Not like Marc Archer—a man who’s never seen her as more than a friend.

Marc Archer needs a date for a last-minute charity event, and he needs it fast. Not that women aren’t throwing themselves at his world-famous face and body, but sometimes it’s less messy—as in less personal—to use his sister Shera’s escort service.

The last woman on earth Marc expects to see in his sister’s office is Chaili. There’s something different about her, but nothing pleases him more when Shera sets them up. That simple date quickly evolves into much more as they both discover the other fills a deep, secret need they’ve shared with no one else.

Though Chaili insists one night is all she wants, Marc isn’t walking away now. Not until he discovers what put the shadows in her eyes. And the scars on her soul.

Warning: This book involves soulful songs, soulful sex, a soulful singer and lots of heartbreak. But no worries, there’s a happy ever after.

Another wonderfully emotional story by Shiloh Walker.  Every page of this book jumped out at me.  Everything from Chaili’s crush on her best friends big brother too the terrible reason her marriage didn’t work out.  Marc is a man who doesn’t trust easy.  He has been hurt one too many times by people he thought he could trust.  But when his little sisters best friend (who just happens to be one of his close friends too) steps back into his life he will have to learn quickly that trust is giving freely, but if you mess it up once you will have a heck of a time getting it back.  Only this time Marc is the one having to earn it back.  Chaili has been through hell the last few years, but she is determined to get back on her feet.  But it is proving to be a bit of a challenge.  When an opportunity comes up to spend the evening with Marc, Chaili is willing to do just about anything to get close to the only man she has ever truly loved.  Beautiful Scars is a great story of trust, love and learning to overcome your fears.  If you are looking for a good read that will leave you wishing there was more.  You need to pick up a copy of Beautiful Scars and learn what true love really is.  Disclaimer:  I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog "The book had the perfect amount of se xua l chemistry and compatibility, it was really sizzling off the pages!" ~Under the Covers Great story, great writing, great author, great book. But I'm left also in thought and a bit conflicted. I'll try to explain. Lets start with the cover. When I first saw it I thought, ohhh cool piano will have to do with a musician. I thought it was just stunning. Then someone mentioned that the girl looks anorexic and they thought it was horrible. This is where sometimes it's not good to judge a book by the cover because, as it turns out, the heroine is not anorexic but she has dealt with health and life issues that have left a mark on her body. First of all, I love this trope. The girl the hero has known his whole life and they've always been best friends but he's never seen her like "that". I loved the easy friendship that was already there between Marc and Chaili. He's a hot shot musician and she's always been in love with him. She's been friends with him and his sister since forever. Now that Marc's date for a charity fell through and he went to his sister's escort business for a last minute date, she offers her services. And that one night opens Marc's eyes to what has always been there. How perfectly Chaili fits him and how much he really wants her. The book had the perfect amount of se xua l chemistry and compatibility, it was really sizzling off the pages! Marc has a bit of a kinky streak, not full on Dom but definitely dominance and some BDSM games. It just worked perfectly that Chaili has been into that herself in the past. As far as the romance, this was a winner! Marc was amazing, once he figured out he wanted Chaili he was relentless in his pursuit. I always love to see a hero like that. He stopped at nothing to have her, he went above and beyond to make others respect her. Just the perfect guy, if you ask me. But this book is also emotional and it hit a little close to home for me with the "scars" aspect of the story. Without giving it away, I'll just say that for me this is a subject that always sobers me up and makes me think and reflect. I'm not sure if that's necessarily something I wanted to read about in a romance novel. Although, I do think the author dealt with the subject well and maybe at times it almost brought tears to my eyes to see Chaili learn to accept herself. Marc was more than wonderful in that respect. This is a hot but also sweet story that I think you will definitely love! *ARC provided by publisher

I love this author and this book is no different. I recommend reading it. The only problem I had with the books is that I felt the ending was abrupt. I'm not sure what else it needed, but a little more seemed necessary.

I read Beautiful Scars in 1 day.  I felt Shiloh Walker did an excellent job of developing the two main characters and making me fall in love with them - baggage and all.  The story was very believable and I could easily relate to Chaili.  I could see myself as the heroine, experiencing her self doubts, fighting her fears and dreaming her dreams.  I could also see myself doing the same things and having the same reactions - well most of the same things...The erotic scenes were just enough to draw me into the room with the characters without turning me off.   I felt they were well written and easy to visualize.    I read this book three days ago.  Since then, I have read certain scenes over and over and over.   Marc is a man I believe most of us who read romance fiction wish we could find. The story line was smooth and interesting.  I did not feel like this book had any drag.I have only one complaint and that is the way the story ended.  The  story's ending was abrupt.  I literally ran my fingers across my Nook and back several times thinking I missed the last chapter or the Epilogue at least but alas no.  I like when stories give me a hint into the characters' future.  Let me know what happens next week, better yet, next year!  Let me know they survived the problems of life with a happy ever after.  The ending was just there - yet I wasn't ready to quit reading.

I loved this. Its heart warming and heart wrenching at the same time. SW makes it easy for you to feel Chaili's emotional turbulance between letting Marc in the way she needs him, but her hesitation at showing her scars. I am recomending it to all my friends and my mom who is a cancer survivor. Loved it n keep a few tissues near by.

I was really disappointed in this book. It got a lot of good reviews but i really dont see why. I couldn't "feel" the connection between the characters and felt the story was not well thought out and lacked any intensity.

This story was emotionally all over the place, and not in a bad way

This is the first book I read by this author but it will not be the last.  I loved the setup the characters, the pain, the connection and the sex.   I have to say the silver lining was the fact it was a whole book.  I didnt have to wait months for a sequel or conclusion. YEA! BOOYA! Thank you for a great read and your consideration in finishing what you started.  Having said that keep writing because readers appreciate the whole story.

This was an OK read. Over the summer, I'd read Ms. Walker's suspense trilogy (If You Hear Her, If You See Her, If You Know Her) and in comparison, it felt like this book wasn't as well thought out in story line and ending. The characters were well developed but the story seemed a little choppy. And I agree with another reviewer in that the ending was very abrupt. An epilogue might've wrapped things up nicely. But BOY, this was the first romance novel I'd read where there's anal sex. Daring.

I think the author didn't know how to end the book so you feel kind of cheated even though its a happy ending. Overall its decent though and I would recommend it.

Loved the characters and story but was absolutely disappointed with ending. Its like the last chapter was cut off, but was probably like poor editing. Very unprofessional.

Both of the main characters have flaws that get in the way. Shiloh Walker is very good at writing characters with flaws and you still fall in love with them.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book in a competition via twitter by the author. I can't believe I am only reading it now!  I loved Marc and Chaili's story. If you follow my reviews you will know that short stories don't bode well for me. However, the last two I have read (this one included) are beginning to change my mind! This book was set over a short period of time, there were no huge time leaps and the author didn't try to squeeze a year or so into a couple of hundred pages by zooming forward months at a time. Even though the story happened over a short time span, due to the writing and the characters there wasn't an ounce of 'instalove' in sight! Both Marc and Chaili had past regrets and a lot of 'what ifs' but this story proved love can be about timing and if it is meant to be it will be.  I loved Chaili's vulnerability and her reluctance to break down her walls and open her heart again. I enjoyed following her journey of letting go. Marc, Marc was HOTT! I loved his personality; his honesty, openness and fear of being a typical male and messing things up! “I need to ask you something. It’s not personal, but I’m probably going to blunder and f%@k it up, so can you cut me slack when I do?” For me Marc was the perfect combination of alpha male and tenderness wrapped up in a sexy package.  This was a steamy read, there were some elements and discussion of BDSM although I wouldn't class it in this category. So if its not your thing then don't be put off by it. Due to the length of this book I did miss out on some of the other characters and would have liked to have seen more of Marc's sister and his band mates. I loved the incorporation of the music and also Chaili's plight, raising awareness of her situation. I would love to hear more from Marc and Chaili in the future as I feel there is a lot more for this couple! I'm glad I discovered this author and will definitely be checking our her other books.
