Firefighter Jude Mason is hurt on the job and placed on disability. While he rehabs his injuries, doubts start creeping in. What if he never heals? Worse than that, is the question he barely dares to contemplatewhat will he do for work if he can never go back to the station? Firefighting is all he knows.
Michaela owns a caf and lives her life with the constant threat of her business failing. She works long hours making her restaurant a success, leaving little time for romance. And who would want her anyway? Shes far from model-thin, for one thing. Sure, shed like to have someone to share the good times and bad with, but her prospects are few, so she concentrates on her job rather than bemoaning her complete lack of a love life.
A collision at a photo shoot brings Jude and Michaela together. They both feel the pull, but with Judes uncertain future and Michaelas nonstop job, can they find common ground? If theyre lucky, Jude and Michaela might discover a future that burns brighter with true love.

What I really enjoyed and felt different from other stories is that the ending was not your typical ending, which made it very realistic for me. Jude and Michaela meet at a photo shoot that Jude is doing as a favor. He is off work as a firefighter due to an injury and is going through physical therapy and working his way back to taking the test that will approve him going back to his profession. He agreed to the photo shoot as a means to get over some of the frustrations at not being able to get back to work. Jude and Michaela feel an instant attraction to each other and agree to go out on a date. But after that life gets in the way and they are unable to see each other for a while. They finally connect again and there begins their relationship. They are finally able to see other more and talk and the sex scenes were very believable, they didn’t rush into it. I thoroughly enjoyed their trials and tribulations, he as a firefighter and she as a restaurant owner. I loved the ending, how Jude’s life changes…but I’ll leave that up to you to find out, so go get a copy of your own. * I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
