Overview

When former Marine, Connor Ortega, was ordered into the offices of Crest Security Agency on a Saturday morning, he didn’t expect the latest case to hit so close to home. A submissive has been murdered in a particularly vicious manner and to bring her killer to justice, he must go undercover. Not hard to do considering he’s already part of the BDSM lifestyle.

Lauren Bailey, a local vendor of bejeweled erotic implements, lives vicariously through her clients due to her fear of bondage. When Connor’s dominant side can’t resist trying to ease her anxieties, she accepts his proposal and agrees to his one stipulation…keep things casual.

When the killer sets his sights on Lauren, Connor is forced to rethink their relationship. He has the training it takes to catch a murderer, but does he have the courage to escape his inner demons and capture Lauren’s heart?

Meet the Author

Kennedy Layne—USA Today Bestselling Author

First and foremost, I love life. I love that I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister...and a writer.

I am one of the lucky women in this world who gets to do what makes them happy. As long as I have a cup of coffee (maybe two or three) and my laptop, the stories evolve themselves and I try to do them justice. I draw my inspiration from a retired Marine Master Sergeant that swept me off of my feet and has drawn me into a world that fulfills all of my deepest and darkest desires. Erotic romance, military men, intrigue, with a little bit of kinky chili pepper (his recipe), fill my head and there is nothing more satisfying than making the hero and heroine fulfill their destinies.

Thank you for having joined me on their journeys...

I was gifted this book not knowing what it was about. Well I am

I was gifted this book not knowing what it was about. Well I am glad it was gifted to me. I really like the book. I was intrigued. The beginning had a great start to get you caught up to keep reading. It started out as a murder investigation that led to the BDSM world. An ex-military man, Conner, is caught up in this world but is also an investigator for the murder case that is linked to this world. Lauren is a vendor that supplies "toys" adorned with jewels for the clubs and doesn't even realize that she is a target until she meets Conner. There is a connection between the two. They hit it off but Lauren tells Conner she wants to keep it casual. At the time he doesn't know that she had tried to be a part of that work at one time. She starts to feel more for him and gives him an ultimatum, scene with her or it is over. Conner has a trust issue that goes way back and does not want their casual thing to go any further until Lauren is in danger and can't stop thinking about her. I was not expecting the murder plot to turn out the way it did nor was I expecting Conner and Lauren's story to end the way it did.

I guess you will just have to read it to see how it all comes out.

Kennedy Layne has knocked it out of the park with the first book

Kennedy Layne has knocked it out of the park with the first book of her CSA CASE FILES SERIES, CAPTURED INNOCENCE! Ms. Layne's amazing talent is apparent at the start. You are not just a reader...all of a sudden, you are ONE of the gang. I felt like Conner and Lauren and the rest of these awesome (I hate to call them this...characters) were MY friends. Not too many authors are able to do this. I LOVE when, as a reader, I am pulled into the book. With beautifully developed characters and a captivating plot from the very beginning, you will easily be enthralled. There is conflict, suspense, humor, inner demons, romance, and of course...HAWT military men (fanning face). What more could anyone want? My suggestion? Get your copy NOW! I promise that you will NOT be disappointed and that YOU too will be a Kennedy Layne fan!

The inaugural book in this series launches you into the fast paced world at Crest Security Agency.
I thought this book was a fantastic and engaging read.
It never lagged and the author pulled you in with her intricate and colorful descriptions of Connor’s post military life. He knows who he is, and he is intent on successfully completing his assignment.
I loved Lauren Bailey. Shes smart, self aware, and independent.
When these two meet, there is spark. But, Connor is on assignment and undercover. How can this ever work?
And that is just the beginning.
Kennedy Layne has pulled me in. I am hooked.

There are some books that when you finish them, you just have to write the review, and this baby is certainly one of them. I am new to Kennedy’s work, but LAWD am I an instant fan with this book!! Those that know me well know I’m not a huge romantic suspense reader. But it’s an understatement to say I couldn’t put this book down for anything. Everything around me went on the back burner until I hit the end!! Every single one of the characters in this book just grabs a hold of you, and it isn’t just the main story line. This agency has so many great characters, that I have no doubt that each new book will be truly incredible. This series centers on the Crest Security Agency. An agency filled with former military men and women, most of them being Marines. As the sister of a Marine, I have a little bit of knowledge of the Marine Corps, and you can definitely tell that Kennedy cares about representing them correctly and getting her facts right. Having her own retired Marine might just help that along.. hehehe..

Connor Ortega is an amazingly complex dominant male. He is still reeling from his recent breakup, and is truly not expecting that this case he is currently working to bring him in contact with one woman who will truly shake up his world. Connor’s one of those characters that you just find yourself falling for, and wanting to slap him on the back of the head at the same time. He brings out all of these emotions when dealing with Lauren.

I absolutely love when a writer has a submissive that has a strong back bone, and shows readers that just because a person is submissive it doesn’t mean they are “weak”. Lauren doesn’t give Connor and inch, and he has to be on his toes when dealing with her. Her submission doesn’t come easy to him. He has to not only work to get her to even give him a chance, but also to help her overcome an issue from the past that blocks her.

I love books like this, the ones that make you sad to see them end. These characters literally had me tied down, and would not let go. I wanted to follow them long after their happily ever after. I guess that is the former soap opera fan in me. I’m excited to get my hands on the next installment of this series!! I hope y’all love this book as much as I have, because I honestly think it is a must read!!!

    What a great series

Stumbled upon this series and I am loving it. Mystery and romance all in one. Typically these types of books focus more on the mystery than the romance. This book has an equal balance of both. Lauren & Cameron keep me on my toes. With each passing page the story revealed more. The author did a great job with character development. Lauren and Cameron's road to happiness is rocky, but they make it. Excited to read the others in this series.

    Nice

Read this book based on a recommendation from a Kallypso Masters book, but that's just it, it sort of read and reminded me of Ms. Masters 'Rescue Me' series, even the tension and the attraction between the very older and head of CSA, Gavin Crest and his much younger assistant, Jesse; can be compared to the crazy relationship between Adam and Karla. I would say the main difference between these two series is Rescue Me focused on the soldiers and the club, this CSA series is an actual security agency. Two different authors, very similar writing styles/methods.

With that being said, it was a good book, mystery, good plot and story line, nice introduction to all characters as well. Connor was a bit of an ass but what man isn't at any given time. Lauren was cool, she wasn't a pushover, she knew what she wanted and went for it, I really enjoyed her character, she wasn't weak, she was very strong and courageous. The BDSM element was very nicely done as well...hot but not crude...
