Overview

Welcome to Westen. Im Lorna Doone. Yep, spelled just like the cookie and I own the Peaches N Cream Caf here in Weston. You might think nothing much happens in a small mid-western town, but as my friend Harriett says, things arent always what they appear. Take our girl Emma for example

Emma Lewis has a lot on her plate. The single mother of two precocious twin boys and an aging mother who is having trouble getting through each day, the last thing Emma needs is a man in her life, especially a doctor. So when the towns doctor goes on vacation and his handsome nephew takes over, Emma is shocked to not only find him standing in her bedroom, but accusing her of being a neglectful parent.

Clint Preston came to Westen for the year to fill in as the town doc while his uncle took a long needed vacation. Clint also needed a sense of peace and calm to try to find his passion for medicine burned out by long shifts in an urban hospitals ER. Angered to find two boys in his clinic with broken wrists and no accompanying parent, he is determined to confront their mother. The feisty redhead he meets quickly dispels his belief that shes a neglectful mother, but he can see her situation is more critical than she wishes to face and finds himself volunteering to help care for her sons and the remodeling of her home.

As Emma and Clint forge a relationship among the slightly off-beat characters that inhabit Westen a menace from Emmas past threatens her and her sons. Clint and Emma join forces to prevent the loss of either boy and the love theyve discovered in each others arms.

A stellar and exiting introduction to the community of Westen! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to start Book 2!! Clint and Emma are oil and water till two engaging and spirited twins (Ben and Brian)stir the pot! The secondary characters are just as captivating so every page is engrossing! A wonderful story of two people who discover their happy ever after amid danger and distrust, but mostly through friends, family and community! Definitely a great story to read!!

Suzanne Ferrell is a gifted writer. Close To Home is the first book in the Weston Series. It is a series based on a small town in Ohio. From page one you get drawn into the small town and it's citizens. The romance and suspense was fantastic. You not only fall in love with the herione and hero...you fall head over heels in love with the twins! Every character is wonderful. I can't wait for the next book.

This well told story sucked me right in. The unfolsing of the romance was superbly done and I never knew what to expect next. It was such an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from Suzanne Ferrell.

've read The Edgars Family series by Ms. Ferrell and loved it, all the suspense, drama and romance roll into one. This is different, but in a good way. There's suspense, but not in the get in your face way. There's drama and issues to deal with, and issues that hit close to my own home in 'Close to Home'. There are two characters that deserve to find some peace and happiness, so there's some sizzle and romance. Then there are absolutely lovable, devious little characters that warm your heart, the twins. This is the kind of book that makes you long for a small town community. The busy bodies that know everybody's business, but would give the shirt off their back to help out in a jam. Lessons are learned, the hard way, for Emma. It seems her past is haunting her and keeps her from moving on. Doc Preston is determined to help her any way he can, if she'll let him.  I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of this series. I know I won't be disappointed with the care that Suzanne Ferrell writes her books.

This is a new to me author, and I had it on my Nook for a long time wait for just the right time to break it out.  I could kick myself for waiting so long.  I really love this story.  I loved the town, the good doctor, the characters and most of all...the twins.  Those two boys made me giggle and sigh and giggle some more.  I really loved Doc's family too.  I am hoping there will be future books about them.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Ferrell and I was so happy I did. It was suggested by Bookbub.com, a service I'm registered with that sends email alerts to me about free ebooks available online, based on my reading preferences listed on their site. This story has everything I look for in a book: romance, intrigue, and memorable characters, especially children. Emma Lewis and Clint Preston's relationship has a rocky start, when he as the temporary town doctor accuses her of being a neglectful mother, after treating her twin six year old sons for broken wrists. Her sons, Ben and Brian, are delightful and cunning little scamps that you can't help but lose your heart to, just as Clint does. He soon finds himself losing his heart to their mother Emma as well, after realizing just how wrong he was about her. Westen, Ohio is the town they live in, and it is populated by many colorful characters that add warmth and chaos to a wonderful tale of two people who overcome many obstacles that test the strength and faith of their love, as well as the well being of two young boys that mean the world to both of them. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Ferrell's books, because she is an awesome storyteller!

## I can't understand the good reviews this book received. I can't even finish it. The "hero" (NOT) is such a jerk and the writing is so "Mayberry" that I can't even make it past page 100. I will not be purchasing any more of this series. Disappointed!
