The companion workbook needs to be reworked as some of the sample questions have wrong answers. It could use more application based questions that mirror the style of questions found on the flight paramedic exam.

I bought this book in preparation for the UMBC Course. Provided most of the required reading for the class, however it is not very in-depth. It simplifies core content to a 'Basic' level. It does have great references and keeps the reader interested with good medicine and management practices. I keep it with me for a really quick reference. I highly recommended the Critical Care Nursing: A Holistic approach it is a must for all CCEMTP's. Together they are a great pair. Morton's gives good basis for the CCRN and FP-C. Bledsoe's provides 'so, I know path-o what is the physical application'. You'll find out you can have all the books for the EXAM and fail because they are way too in-depth. Think of it as a EMT-B book for critical care transport. I still use it when my partner and I are stumped. Great Job by Brian Bledsoe once again for providing the knowledge and care to the field as well as presenting the ground work for CCEMTP books to follow. Good Luck, Fly Safe, Roll Safe !!

If you want to buy one book that will help you get certified as a critical care paramedic, this is it! The book is comprehensive, but concise. Tables and diagrams support the text well and the book does not waste time covering too much of the basics. The information is amazingly accurate. I've been a paramedic for a long time, and the book held my interest. Even if you aren't pursuing the Critical Care Paramedic certification offered by University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), this book will take your patient care to a whole new level.
