She has a secret.

I’m complicated. Not broken or ruined or running from a past I can’t face. Just complicated.

I thought my life couldn’t get any more tangled in deceit and confusion. But I hadn’t met him. I hadn't realized how far I could fall or what I'd have do to get free.

He has a secret.

I’ve never pretended to be good or deserving. I chase who I want, do what I want, act how I want.

I didn’t have time to lust after a woman I had no right to lust after. I told myself to shut up and stay hidden. But then she tried to run. I’d tasted what she could offer me and damned if I would let her go.

Secrets destroy them.

It's hard not to be speechless after reading Destroyed...I was absolutely addicted to the story (and Roan). Hazel and Roan have pasts that are littered with pain and secrets, yet they both kept living, just going through the motions. The chemistry and attraction they had for each other was instantaneous, yet falling in love wasn't an option. While it seemed like Roan and Hazel completed each other, getting to a point they could call themselves whole wasn't easy, wasn't without heartbreak, wasn't without immense pain. This journey touched me, stayed with me, and drew me in like a total addict. Their tale had so much depth, so many layers, and I could feel both their grief and love...and it was worth every ounce of sadness to get to the end. Thank you, Ms. Winters, for writing characters and a story that will stick with me for a very long time.

    Very well written

I am not going to give you a blow by blow of what happened in this book - you can get that from almost all the other reviews. I am an avid reader of may different genres, and right now I am definitely on a romance kick. Quite frankly, I have been bored. Trying to find my next fix has been painfully difficult. Either the writing is so horrible I can hardly hang on until the end, or the premise of the book is just not what it should be. I like sex in my books - and lots of it! That doesn't mean that I appreciated straight up smut.
With that said, I can honestly tell you that this book is more than worth your time. The author clearly has a strong understanding of the English language and grammar. In addition, the book's premise and plot were really quite extaordinary. The sex is great - but please be aware of the warnings that are provided. If you have issues related to sex in any way, please pass this one up. In general, I don't cry. BUT - I cried through the last quarter of this book. So much so my husband had to ask me several times if I was alright.
If you are looking for a well written, deep story with volumes to share, Destroyed is one you don't want to miss!

Destroyed is one of the best dark erotic novels I have read!
The story is written very well from both Hazel and Roan's perspective.
This novel is intriguing, heartbreaking, fast paced and the sex scenes are HOT, HOT, HOT!

Hazel finds herself in a desperate situation that prompts to make a decision that changes her life forever. Regardless of her past experiences and struggles, she is loving, courageous, strong and stands up for herself.

Roan aka Fox is damaged, tortured by a tragic past, without hope of finding redemption, until he meets Hazel. She is the only woman that sees past Roan's charade, the only woman that can save his soul.
Roan's character is by far, the most damaged male character I have read. I felt all the pain that he went through in every scene.

This is the first novel I've read by Pepper Winters and it is fabulous!
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys dark, erotic love stories.

    Warning!!!

This book needs a very strong warning - the "hero" rapes - and its clearly described as such - the heroine and tries to murder her multiple times. I don't care what excuses are presented or how the author tries to redeem him at the end, that is unforgivable. And she was an idiot for going back for more. What a great way to teach girls that even though a man abuses you, he really loves you and you should forgive him. Oh, and put your children in harms way while you're at it because maybe they can save him. You know, or get killed.

*I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review and for the blog tour*

    “Invisible impenetrable, invinicible.”
    "Kill, sever, bleed, devour."

Love, touch, weakness, and emotion are unacceptable.

My thoughts: Omigah! I’m still trying to comprehend what I just read!

Fox was a conundrum in itself and always made me tremble with great trepidation as to what or how he was going to react! Everyday is a struggle and every day he sees less and less hope to find redemption for his sins. That is, until one woman (and child) shook his entire foundation and showed him that he did have a heart and soul after all!

I must have gasped, cried, raged, and held my breath throughout this entire story! What an emotional rollercoaster about angst, despair, helplessness, and even absolution!

I envied Hazel’s unwillingness to break and let her or Fox’s gritty pasts get the better of her. She really was a mixture of strength, beauty, determination but with an underlying hint of sadness and my heart really broke for her (and Fox) when that tragedy she had been dreading had finally occurred. It just made me sob and sob. I mean, I knew that it was going to come but at the same time I was still hoping it wasn’t.

    *gets teary eyed*

Nevertheless, despite this tragic revelation, I think it was necessary because it set off a set of events that taught our characters to even more to cherish life and each other. It allowed for even more healing and exoneration to take place and for both characters to grow and find peace once and for all.

A very lovely and strenuous story about an imperfect love that despite its obstacles could lead to the most rewarding of things!

Pepper Winters' BEST WORK up to date!! I literally DEVOURED EVERY.SINGLE.PAGE!!

    HOLY MOLY PEPPER!!

WOW! I loved , loved, loved this book. Pepper you have outdone yourself again. You totally blew my mind. I can't express enough how much this story touched my heart. I cried so hard for Fox and I cried for Zel but for Clara my heart shattered and I was screaming ugly crying. Lol. Clara's character had to be the sweetest most loving and innocent soul ever. The light in her shined brighter than the north star. She made my heart swell with love for her. My heart literally ached for Clara and Zel. Pepper has such an amazing talent for describing her characters and the scenes that I felt like I was standing with Zel and Clue with the horses. As for Fox well in the beginning I absolutely hated him then as the story progressed and I learned more and more about him I understood why he was the way he was. I was screaming at my nook for Zel to leave him and never look back. Then when sweet sweet Clara awakens something inside him I start to like him and then in the end I loved him. I was still crying for Clara even after I finished the book. I started reading this book on a Saterday at about 9:00pm and didn't stop until I finished it on Sunday at about 4:00pm. Lol. I extremely recommend this book to everyone. But be warned keep lots of tissues handy. The suspense will blow you away. Thank You Pepper for another freakin amazing story.

    W O W

This is a beauty and the beast retelling on speed and jack daniels. There are parts that made me cringe , parts that made me cry , parts that made me hate the hero then love him , parts that made me despise the heroine then made me pump my fist in the air and say h*ll yeah for her . A strong herione , a dark and scarred hero .. and one heck of a story . This writer knows how to deliver

Hazel meets Fox for the first time in an underground fighting

Hazel meets Fox for the first time in an underground fighting club. Instantly attracted to one another, she is appalled but intrigued when Fox offers her thousands of dollars for just one month of her presence. They each have secrets and dark spaces in their lives, yet these two people find what’s missing in one another.
Fox has survived horrific abuse from his childhood. Taken from his home and forced to perform horrific acts, he has escaped and now runs this illegal fighting club. When he meets Hazel, he’s attracted to her pureness. Yet, Hazel needs more from Fox than his presence...she needs money for her terminally ill daughter. Forced to take Fox up on his offer, they each keep secrets from one another while attempting to heal the other.
Extremely complex with complicated characters, Winters has built a dark world unlike anything I have read before. Filled with secrets and dark passions, Hazel and Fox are unable to find salvation by themselves so they turn to one another. I finished their journey but at certain points I felt that the drama was stretched out a little more than it needed to be. The pacing seemed off in places so it wasn’t a smooth read but overall the story was solid, sad, and heartwrenching. There may have been tears in a few places.
This is the first Pepper Winters book I have ever read. While I read it to the end and honestly enjoyed it, I must say it was quite dark. Each of the characters fights demons, both outwardly and inward. Now I’m not saying I wasn’t warned it would be dark, but it was a bit shocking to me once I had finished how dark the story actually had gotten. I’m not saying its bad, I’m just saying that I should have prepared myself a bit better.

    thats f*cked up!!!

As I started this book I had no idea where it was going. I was praying it wasn't headed down the vampire dead end like most go without warning. The writing was very good and the storyline kept me up until almost dawn every night reading. When I wasn't reading I was wondering where the story was going to go. It was raw and completely just f*ucked up. I have never read anything like it. The ending was a bit cheesy but written well. It could have only ended 2 ways, happy ending or sad. But like I said, very well written. I can picture the movie in my head as I read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I'm not really sure what to think of this book - the premise is quite interesting and I was definitely intrigued and captured by the narrative. Certain parts of this were just utterly ridiculous - even if you do suspend belief while reading this. I did quite enjoy the alternating narratives between Hazel and Roan; it wasn't confusing in any way and was a good way to get perspectives from both on specific situations - Roan's POV was hot - always. The introduction of Clara in Roan's life was a good way of breaking up the semi-monotony of the same thing over and over (Roan hurting Zel and her returning for more, essentially). The ending was just too perfectly tied up in a bow for me, but overall, I was satisfied with this book - I definitely couldn't put it down!
