AN ENDING GUARANTEED TO DELIGHT ROSE STRICKLAND FANS...

After shunning her overbearing parents' wealthy lifestyle, waitress and part-time college student, Rose Strickland, is drawn back into their world when she tries to prove the impossible: the innocence of the town's crooked police chief. He's suspected in the gruesome death of Delia Cummings, his secretary and mistress, and all the evidence points to him.

While she tracks down clues with the aid of her anime-loving bestie, Rose's pal, Axton, and his Klingon gang are feuding with their Starfleet rivals. Things get hairier than a pile of well-fed Tribbles, so Rose gets involved. In between interrogating Trekkies and quizzing socialites at high tea, she discovers the secrets Delia Cummings took to her grave. Suspects abound, but when Chief Mathers threatens to bring down Rose's criminally mischievous and maybe boyfriend, Sullivan, she makes it her mission to find the real killer before Sullivan finds himself in prison.

In Diner Impossible, the third installment in the Rose Strickland Mystery series, author Terri L. Austin transports the reader back to Huntingford, Missouri, for another zany adventure featuring the sassy diner waitress / part-time college student / amateur sleuth Rose Strickland. This time there are two interweaving cases for Rose and her quirky gang of friends to solve: the murder of Delia Cummings, the crooked police chief's secretary / mistress; and best friend Axton's request to look into the theft of a signed Star Trek uniform. Diner Impossible is an entertaining cozy mystery told in the first person narrative by Rose, who takes the reader along for the ride on her latest investigative adventure. In this latest installment in the series, Rose is back in the wealthy society world that she grew up in dealing with family issues and a high profile local murder case; while also dabbling in the world of Trekkies, where her bestie Axton's group of Klingons are battling with their Starfleet rivals. This fast-paced cozy mystery has a lot of intriguing twists and turns that easily engages the reader and keeps them guessing what will happen next, while also providing a lot of laugh-out-loud moments that will keep you in stitches. Author Terri L. Austin continues to provide the reader with a series that has a great balance of humor, intrigue, and a touch of romance that is just plain fun to read. The quirky cast of characters from the first two books in the series: Ma, Roxy, Axton, and Sullivan are all back in this book along with Rose's mom Barbara, who gives her wayward daughter more family grief. These fun characters will keep the reader entertained with their quirkiness, witty dialogue, and engaging interactions that makes this story fun to follow. Diner Impossible is an entertaining cozy mystery that is full of drama, suspense, comedy and romance, you can't help but get hooked on Rose's zany amateur sleuth adventures! Author Terri L. Austin won't keep her fans waiting long with the next installment of Rose's madcap adventures as Diners Keepers, Losers Weepers, a Rose Strickland novella, will be included in the mystery anthology The Heartache Motel that will be published in December 2013.

This is the third book in the Rose Strickland Mystery series by Terri L. Austin and I was lucky enough to get started on it shortly after finishing book 2. There is something wonderful about finishing one book in a series, coming up for a small breath of air, and then diving right back down into a fantastic world of impressive and intriguing characters. This story starts approximately 5 months after the end of the book 2, with Officer Hard Ass, aka Officer Andre Thomas, asking for Rose's help looking into a murder. The police chief's secretary and mistress was found murdered in her bed. Rumors abound that the Chief of Police did her in due to an unwanted pregnancy, but Officer Thomas has his doubts. Especially since the Police Chief was his mentor early in his career. Officer Thomas wants Rose to do what he can't do, go where he can't go and find out what really happened to the dead woman. Since Rose knows all about the Police Chief's illegal gambling addiction and since he was cheating on his wife, at first she doesn't see why she should get involved.  But then Officer Thomas plays the innocent wife and kids card. Rose can't bear the thought of the children having to deal with the rumors and scandal, so she reluctantly agrees to take the case.  Little does she know that she will soon be getting a call from her mother, asking her to dinner and pulling out all the stops to play nice with Rose. It seems that the Chief of Police's wife is a good friend of Rose's mother. Such a good friend that she can't stand what is happening, and wants Rose to investigate and figure out what happened.  There is also a secondary mystery going on. Axton, one of her best friends, asks her to look into the theft of a signed Star Trek uniform. His group of Klingon's was supposed to present the uniform back to the Starfleet group after they won their bowling competition. Axton asks Rose for help, because their Honor is at stake. Axton is always great fun and I really enjoy whenever we get to see him. This was another wonderful addition to the Rose Strickland series. It looks like Rose is slowly figuring what she wants out of life. She isn't worried about what society thinks she should have or be, but what will make her happy and fulfilled in the long term. I think we should all strive to be a little more like Rose. This book was a 4 star read for me.

Title: Dinner Impossible - Rose Strickland Mystery 3 Author: Terri L. Austin Published: 11-2-13 Publisher: Henery Press Pages: 296 Genre: Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Sub Genre: Cozy Mystery; Amateur Sleuth; Culinary ISBN: 9781938383762 ASIN: B00AGLOFOK Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley . Some people cannot stand to see an injustice, whether it be someone being cyber bullied or a corrupt cop being accused of a murder he didn't commit. Rose Strickland is such a person. When Officer Andre Thomas ask Rose to do what he cannot and investigate using her special skills to prove Chief of Police Martin Mathers did not kill his lover and secretary Delia Cummings. Even though Mathers is believed to be crooked Rose does not believe he killed Delia. As she begins uncover the secrets held by Delia her suspect list grows and grows. When Mathers begins to threat Rose's boyfriend Sullivan if she doesn't lay off she become determined to protect Sullivan even if he does have a questionable secret past. She also refuses to let Mathers get away with his threats and decides to speed things up and solve Delia's murder. This is a mystery with well developed characters and a well thought out plot. The plot is filled with sensitive issues and treated with care. It will make you feel both sympathy and anger, but you will be invested in the story and will not want to stop reading to the end. This is one of Austin's best Rose Strickland Mysteries and I cannot wait to see where she goes with this series next.

What a Great Series. It was a happy mistake when I stumbled across this fun series, and Terri L Austin is quickly becoming one of my favorite Author. This is book 3 and they just keep getting better and better. I would recommend that you read the previous books first, not necessarily because you would be lost otherwise, so you get to know all the colorful and complex characters better and see how it all got started. As usual I stayed up way passed my bedtime to find out who done it and I was not disappointed by the storyline and I can't wait to get started on the next book. It had plenty of mystery and romance and is just an overall fun read. I hope that there will be many more to come.

“Murder She Wrote meets Peyton Place’” is an apt description of Diner Impossible.  The book is a lovely cozy mystery with a bit too much sexuality woven into the story for this reader.  Rose (aka Rosi) Strickland has rejected the well to do lifestyle of her mother and sister and replaced it with the life of independence as she serves as a waitress in the local diner.  With the help of her co-workers, she is called on to investigate and eventually solve the murder of the crooked police chief’s administrative assistant. The chief could have done it - but so could have a dozen other people, including Rosi’s criminal boyfriend.  The locale, the characters, and the story is very blue collar compared to many cozy mysteries - these facts make the book approachable by a great many readers.  Though it was not my favorite read, there will  be those who will find the country clubs, bars, diners, and other rural haunts that define Huntingford, MO, a comfortable home - not just for a mystery, but for Rosi’s friends and family as well. ______________ This review is based on a free electronic copy provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review.  The opinions expressed are mine alone.
